Interesting read
I just read Road and Track performance car of the year article. The winner was the 350 Shelby Mustang!!! WTF over a Z06 'Vette, 488 Ferrari, Viper ACR, AMG GTS and Porsche Cayman!
Well, after all it is an American magazine, what could we expect? What I found interesting was the fact that it cost 67K and that my SRT6 is qiucker from 0-60, a lot quicker in the 1/4 mile, stops faster and although unconfirmed, I would bet that it can corner better than that 3700+ lb barge. Oh, and I can at least match its' top speed and for less than 25K. I suspect that Ford covered a big portion of their budget this month, or else they are all doing CRACK!

The 2016 Road & Track Performance Car of the Year
This was their reasoning:
"AROUND NCM MOTORSPORTS PARK, the Ford Shelby GT350R feels very nearly as special as the Viper ACR. It has the same single-minded focus on high-speed balance and usable performance, and if it sometimes feels a bit like a taxicab compared with the Viper, it makes up for that with a simply magical V-8 that brings the caviar thrills of 8250-rpm performance to a beer-and-burgers demographic. If you could summon some sort of Lovecraftian dark magic to combine the best parts of the other seven cars in this test—the Bentley's on-road poise, the Cadillac's vivacious chassis, the Merc's bluff-nosed retro charm, the Cayman's accessible limits, the Ferrari's auditory drama, the Corvette's wide-hipped machismo, and the Viper's sense of purpose—then what would appear in the swirling mists would be, not Cthulhu the Great Old One, but Shelby the Baddest Mustang. Our winner by a runaway vote, the Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R is, quite deservedly, the Road & Track 2016 Performance Car of the Year"

I had the same reaction when I read the article - "huh? 10 years later my SRT6 matches/beats the RT Performance Car of the Year?" Yes, I've got some mods, but the value and sophistication our car delivers is just amazing.

Re: Interesting read
Remember that the SRT-6 Roadster was about $50,000 10 years ago, so price is comparable.
I did a quick calc, and 50,000 in 2005 is equal to $61,000 now. And there is more in the Mustang than the Crossfire. Just comparing price, not performance or looks or desirability.
