Peeling Srt6 Wheels
Peeling Srt6 Wheels
So, it seems like the clear coat and paint is starting to peel off my wheels. One of my wheels is in bad shape and I'm pretty sure that it's due to this crappy Eagle One wheel cleaner that claims to be safe on clear coated aluminum wheels. Anyways, I'm trying to fix the problem and I got a quote from one of the few good wheel repair shops in my area and they want $220 per wheel. I'd rather try the cheaper route first and do it myself. I've seen a couple wheel repaint kits online but I'm not too sure about them. Has anybody had success with any of these repaint/repair kits?
Re: Peeling Srt6 Wheels
yep, that's the exact same wheel that's peeling on mine. I guess it could just be the constant brake dust buildup on the front wheels. I think I'm just gonna try cleaning the wheel, sanding the bad spots down, and then spray those spots with clear coat lacquer. Will see how that works. If it looks like crap, I'll end up completely stripping the wheel with some aircraft stripper, sanding, and respraying a couple layers of clear coat lacquer. From the limited research that I've done, this seems to be the cheapest and easiest fix for aluminum wheels. The thing I'm worried about though, is the one wheel turning out great, but it not matching the rear wheel.
