Ignition switch ?
Re: Ignition switch ?
Hi guys! This has been a lot easier than I thought! I removed the spring and pin and am putting it all back together. I'm having a bit of trouble getting the mechanism back in the steering column, and was wondering if there is a trick to it. I've got it in past the little spring loaded 'pin' you have to hold down, but can't go much farther. What do I need to do? I'm just about there!!! Really proud of myself! Girls rule!!

I'm sure you have the video but here is the link. You may have to push the pin in a bit?

Ive watched the video a trillion times. I'm a little weak due to Multiple Sclerosis and was worried I might have a problem working on my car because of it so I watched the video over and over to build my confidence. I guess I'll just keep trying. I know I can't be off by much but thought there might be a trick to getting it back in. I can't wait to tell my mobile guy! Thanks guys. I'll let you know when it's successfully completed!!
Re: Ignition switch ?
Hi Guys!
I'm still having trouble getting the mechanism back in place because it slips out and wants to rotate towards the back and ignition is at the top/back. My hands are hurting so I guess I'm going to have to quit for a bit and let them heal so if anybody has any tips on what I should do or what I can do I would really appreciate it. I want to get this project finished so i can start driving my car again. I'm so close I just don't know why it won't go back in. Oh, there is a little knotch where the mechanism goes into and I can't tell by the videos, but does the pin sit inside it? Thanks! Have a great weekend!

Re: Ignition switch ?
Can you take it out or is it jammed in there?
Does it feel like it is caught on the pin or just stuck?
Has the pin sprung out in the gap between the clamp plate and the main body?

Re: Ignition switch ?
THis is a simple alignment problem. I admit I cant' say for sure, even tho I did a mod only two weeks ago, but I was thinking I insert the assembly with the 'key hole" pointing DOWN, not at your face like you have it.
Then you rotate it, once it is in pretty much all the way, and the pin pops out thru the hole and it's IN!
I just cant remember for sure....

OMG!!! I still can't get that damn mechanism in place! I've tried it with the key hole down, up, facing me, turned the key to position 1 and 2 and nothing! It doesn't want to go back in any farther than the pic I posted. I talked to my mobile guy, and now he says he only works on Mercedes! Dude, you've worked on my car before!!! I think the change of heart is due to my ex. Grrr. Now what??!!! Hell's bells!!!!!
