Did I read where a member had pulley machined?
Re: Did I read where a member had pulley machined?
Until then I will check every option. Thanks.
Re: Did I read where a member had pulley machined?
By the way, yes Europe made the U.S., in fact my grandparents came from Europe. Then the U.S. saved Europe from Hitler and we support much of Europe with cash and military protection. We work together just as this forum should work together.
Re: Did I read where a member had pulley machined?
France will likely be a Muslim country within the next decade not that it should make a difference until religion gets involved. Didn't the US liberate France during WWII? I believe I lost a fellow who would have been my uncle had his plane not been shot down. I apologize for getting off topic but as stated in one of my last posts in the thread we are a forum and should be working together, the experienced to the novice, how about we keep it there?
PS: I'll contact the shop that Jim, aka jefasold, used to cut his pulley. Mark

Re: Did I read where a member had pulley machined?
Carrs machine Shop where Jim aka JAFASOLD had his pulley turned has a new number, the last 4 digits are 6515 for a new number of 570-784-6515. I'll keep you posted, mark
PS: Waiting for a call from Carl and Carrs to see if they will be able to complete the last piece I need and Jim agrees the 178/70 or 181/70 are nearly perfect combo's allowing the SC's to remain in their listed sweet spot RPM wise and the stock injectors are up to the task with an adjustable regulator/pump/filter from Rob. maybe I will get this completed by the end of Summer afterall. Sub 12.5's should be a lock, I hope
PS: My used SL55 fuel pump arrived today, I have to go pick it up. $80. shipped from a car with 49k miles on it. Thanks guys for bearing with all of my questions and poor health which often had me asking the same question more than once!

Re: Did I read where a member had pulley machined?
Well, Jefasold's tip paid off. The machine shop he used is going to turn my stock pulley for me, $80. No need to send it to Bulgaria! I just prefer a shop that has done this before with success. I just need to decide between 69mm and 70mm. For you guys who do stack I imagine the engine response must be instant and hard, hence the traction issues I read about. The Cobra guys have a sticky on their forum for the TOYO PROXES R888's they think so highly of them and if your Cobra isn't putting 600+ to the wheels they put you in a lower class. I just had mine removed and it was tough to try to break them. I went with a set of Sumitomo HRTZ II"s as I got them shipped for $375, all 4. Now I can spend my cash and attention finishing my performance plans. I will be able to use the stock injectors. I will use the SL55 fuel pump and Rob's Free flow filter and adjustable regulator. After that a set of "tweaked intakes" and a ported lower "Y" should finish the performance mods. These cars are high 11 rides at best for the investment. I'll enjoy mine for it's uniqueness and the fact it is an SLK32 AMG so my top goes down. I do see a lot of Crossfires down about 45 minutes north of Fort Myers. I'll try for some pics. thanks to all again, especially Jim for the tip on Carr's, who by the way sounds like a nice guy if anyone is of the same mind to stack but not to the max. mark

Sweet2002. Did you get your machined stock pulley back? Thinking about going that route or getting the Polish 65mm pulley that RED_DOG is running and have good luck with. Just unfortunate that stock pulleys are going for a small fortune on eBay.
Re: Did I read where a member had pulley machined?
SWEET202 takes days at a time off from forum, so in the interest of all, yes he did get it back, installed and is now running pretty good. The machinist is a friend of mine and teaches at the local VoTech school. so he is accomplished at the trade. He has done several machining jobs for me, all for the Crossfire. Also, he is a very nice guy.
Re: Did I read where a member had pulley machined?
YES! The credit goes to Jim as he told me about his friend and for $80. plius $10. for 3 day shipping I got a beautiful 70mm SC pulley. Combined with the 178mm crank pulley I have it is a bit more than if I had a 62mm SC pulley. FYI take the crank pulley diameter, divide that by the diameter of the SC pulley and multiply that number times the engine RPM to get the rpm of the SC rollers. This is only a refferrence as the rollers spin at a ratio near 3 times the engine rpm but it gives a number to compare to. I had the 65mm SC pulley nand wanted some more boost than that but wanted to stay within the efficiency range of the SC. That is where Jim stepped in as I found I could go from 67 to 73mm's for the pulley diameter. My calculations showed a 6.6% increase. Well either my ebay used SL55 pump was dying or it could not keep up at rpm's above 5300rpm, it would go VERY lean. 550cc injectors, new Bosch for just $225. did the trick along with the adjustable regulator. My tune is for 450cc injectors with extra fuel from when I was running TORCO. I adjust the AFR's to run a safe amount of fuel.
A search for machining the SC pulley address will give you that info and a number to call with a name. Highly recommend him. In fact I would go with a 67mm pulley instead of the 65mm pulley available as it is quite a savings. Mark

Re: Did I read where a member had pulley machined?
But its good to hear that it works well. I have been thinking about doing a crank pulley instead of a supercharger pulley due to the harsh engagement I have been told happens with a smaller supercharger pulley. But an aftermarket crank pulley is close to a $1k
ASP Pulley Kit
If I can find a lightly used OEM supercharger pulley for a decent price, having it machined would be a good option as opposed to going with that polish 65mm one. I am still on the fence with modding mine too much. Usually leads to problems down the road

[QUOTE=Egodriver71;851379]Bloomsburg area huh?
I almost went to work for Geisinger up there in Danville and my wife graduated from Bloom.
I worked at Geisinger for 35 years, it is a well known facility and they generally give excellent care. Both of my strokes were treated there and I received great care. There is a car show there on Nov. 7th to aid the Childrens Hospital there, it will be my last one for the year.
