speed limiter
Re: speed limiter
here says 186...? (but you gotta remove the 155mph limiter - post above it)
sorry - don't want to turn it into another one of those 330 v 360bhp arguments the SRT's and SLK32's had years ago...
Biggest thing I'd be worried about at 150+ mph, would the hard top unclipping and getting sucked off.

(these are likely referencing the 250kph/155mph limiter)
The guy who hit "186" got a downhill start to 70mph, then took another 1.25 miles to reach top with no limiter.
Mechanical top speed is 194, not counting for drag http://www.enormouslysideways.net/calc.html
Drag limits the top speed to 181-185 (330hp DC spec/ 350hp MB spec) Horsepower & Aero Drag Calculator
Full Eurochaged power package (407hp) will reach the mechanical limit of 194. (= drag max as well 194.7mph)
Realworld conditions are going to keep you from reaching max theoretical most of the time (open straight road length, driver and cargo weight, wind, traction/ rolling resistance, etc)

Re: speed limiter
Hellums admitted a long time ago he didn't hit it. If I remember right his taller tires would have added to the speed as well. I am sure the car is capable of 170+ modded, but I haven't had the straightaway to try it safely... It is on my agenda to find a place to try to top it out, but haven't located that place yet...maybe my trip out through Illinios will find me a lonely stretch of straightaway...lol
Re: speed limiter
Where I live, there's a wonderful stretch of Highway 180 that is uninterrupted east/west for 2-3 miles at a time (as in no merge north/south) and out in the orchards. I decided to take both SRT's out and warm them up/stretch them out this weekend. I was going 80-90 or so and depressed the throttle a little bit on each drive. They hit 125 in no time with plenty more to go. So, 125 feels like 80. Both cars are really solid. Since I need my license, I won't try that any time again soon.
Re: speed limiter
Yes - I haven't heard (or experienced) a bad report over 120mph for these cars....(slk32's included).
But I'm still wary of my hard top.
Will continue to test top down...;>)
At my local race track there is a long sweeper into an 1/2mile straight - still not long enough to get over 125mph and allow time for braking into the next corner.
There is a 1/4 mile drag strip there as well...it gets packed out every Wednesday night by all the local "hoons" - by the time you get to the start heat soak has set in well and truly...
Co-ords
33°48'11.93"S
150°52'5.67"E

Re: speed limiter
Not sure if this is the thread where I posted I ran my roadster at 140 for 20 miles after crossing the Mackinac Bridge about 13 years ago and ran my SRT6 to 150+ (ran out of clear road, not power). Both vehicles are ECU limited so other than larger tires, I think they have to be flashed to eliminate the "governor". (Same issue with Audis.) Some guys claim upwards of 170 in modded SRT6s. My 2018 Maserati Ghibli is limited to 178 but there is no way I am going to find out if it is true.

Re: speed limiter
The speed limiter is SCN coded in the ECU.
For the NA ECU, the available values are: 160/170/180/190/210/240/243/250 km/h
and for the SRT ECU, they are: 160/180/210/230/240/250/280/300 km/h
In all the Crossfire ECU's I've looked at, the speed limiter has been set at 250 km/h (155 mph), for both the NA and SRT6.
So, if you wanted to, you could increase the SRT6 limiter to 300 km/h (186 mph)
You can change them using Developer mode in Mercedes Star/Xentry.
*** Just as an addition. I was reading some old posts in which people had adjusted their measured speed because they were running bigger rear tyres than stock. The speedo reads from the front wheels.
