Default 2 issues: Passenger side rattle / "burnt smell"

Hi SRT-6 enthusiasts,

Here are two issues I am clueless of and would like to hear your thoughts on this:

1st issue: When starting, engine cold, I can hear a faint rattle coming from passenger side in engine bay. I have changed oil 3 weeks ago, heard the rattling before and thought the oil change would cure it. But no luck there. I do not see any leaking from valve covers on this side.

2nd issue:
I can somewhat smell a kind of burnt smell in engine bay. Located somewhere frontish in engine bay. Almost as if the generator had some issues.
I can see some evidence of leaking oil from lower valve cover gasket on driver side, and could see some oil having dripped down on power steering pump or what else is sitting below. Could this be what is generating the smell? It smells almost electrical, as of something is burnt. Like when u played with electrical cars / motors as a kid.

Most appreciated if you could take the time and help me out.

I know the smell! I would pull the serpentine belt, inspect it, and then check the bearings off all the accessories by hand spinning.

For an oil smell, check the valve covers for cracks.

Just a guess, rattle right side of engine could be the cat. Burnt smell could be oil on exhaust manifold.

Thanks everyone for the help.
I have yet not found out what it can be.
I will have to check indoors during XMAS and see if I find anything...
Thanks for all the hints and tips.

Hi everyone!

Problem rattling:
I think I have found out the rattling. It is one of the pulleys, it is the one far left in this picture : .
I have an upgraded PSK kit from Rob, and I think this pulley is the 38052 found in this picture

I am about to change to the LM21 PSK kit so hopefully that can cure one rattling pulley
Fingers crossed.

Problem burnt smell:
I just talked to Chris LM21 about it and he made me aware of the secondary air injection pump. I scoped through the net a bit and I found that the electrical burnt smell I get is something similar others have got when something is up with this pump. Anyone experienced this? I am getting not codes at all.

I will start of by doing the RCM soldering (did it for my old NA, but not yet for the SRT-6)
Then any suggestions regarding the secondary air injection pump? possible to test it somehow? any fuses?

All suggestions are welcome

Take care everyone.

The pump fuse is the big orange one ( 40 amp ) on the RCM.
Yes, you can test it by connecting +12 to one pin and ground to the other. ( ground to the pin that had the brown wire connected to it )
Most likely a stuck relay in the RCM, sent it to DJ ( tighed1 ) and he can replace the relay for you.

Meanwhile, just remove the air pump fuse, won't hurt anything if the pump don't run, other than passing emissions tests.

I find the LM21 BWK far superior to the NeedsWings kit, just my opinion. Better belt wrap, nicer look, and no weird noises. I switched from the Code3 PSK for the same reason...one squeaky @$$ pulley that wouldn't shut up!

Thanks for info man!

"Most likely a stuck relay in the RCM, sent it to DJ ( tighed1 ) and he can replace the relay for you." - do you simply mean I need to do re-soldering? Or do I need to change any hardware?

Ok, I'll re-solder it, see if anything is solved. Otherwise, orange fuse is out.

DJ will do all the resoldering and relay replacement as needed.
It will cost you around $20.

Send him a PM ( tighed1 )

I have done the soldering before, no worries there. But replacing any relays sounds like a mess. what relays are there? those 5 spools on the actual rcm?

Yes, the relays are very difficult to replace, and also not easy to acquire.
They are the 5 "spooly things" :
