I am one to advocate removing the NEG battery cable before you start unplugging cables from any electronic modules. There are 'HOT' wires all over the place where the RCM is (in that bin with a few other components). If by chance you either short or damage any wiring, you'll want to be sure that the systems are not powered. Just a safety step that many have (although maybe not in THIS instance) regretted. I say don't be the first to regret it in this instance? Good luck!
