Srt6 roadsters are ri$ing
Srt6 roadsters are ri$ing
A while back I noticed the SRT6 roadsters were getting really hard to find. Since I have one with 22k that I considered selling (not anymore) I looked for ads everyday. Recently I saw two both with "price negotiable" and mileage listed at N.A. As usual, they were sold but one dealer told me the price he got, $25,990. That could be B.S. but I doubt it. He had no motive to lie. I noticed one on Ebay. Keeping my eye on that one too. Good news for us rag top owners.
Re: Srt6 roadsters are ri$ing
I'm seeing the same thing. Prices on the 6 roadster are up 1,500 - 2,500 since last year. Right now is prime time "sell the convertible" season, but there is hardly any SRT6 Roadster supply. Now for some inside baseball...
A good friend of mine is Sr VP of a major national auto parts distributor. They have access to all vehicle registrations in the US. I asked him if he'd mind looking up how many SRT6 Roadsters were registered in the US. He replied that his analytics guy couldn't differentiate between srt6 coupes and roadsters, but that there are as of now 1528 SRT6's registered in the US. Anyone know the ratio of srt6 Coupes to Roadsters sold in the US? So, it looks to me like there are between 400 - 500 SRT6 roadsters remaining in the US.

Re: Srt6 roadsters are ri$ing
yes - as they say....one part of the equation for car value is...it's not how many were sold - but how many are left....
then of course you just need a buyer.....
I need to find out how many of the reported 28 SLK32's sold in Australia are still running....;>)

Re: Srt6 roadsters are ri$ing
All SRT6's are rare, they just didn't make that many of them. Add the fact that the ones buying them now, for the most part, aren't planning on selling them. If it fact only 1,528 are in the U.S. it would seem to me that the supply will quickly fall short of the demand. Then it will be interesting to see what amounts will encourage dedicated owners to part with a very special car. I have a graphite coupe with less than 9k miles and (and I know some will say I'm crazy) but 25k wouldn't interest me at all, mainly, because I have no plans on selling it.

Re: Srt6 roadsters are ri$ing
I'm with you on this. I see scores of Camaros, Mustangs, Corvettes, Jaguars, Maseratis, AMG Mercedes of all stripes driving around town, but I've never seen my car once other than when I walk by it in my garage. I actually see a Ferrari at least once a month. Why would I ever sell a couturier coachwork, German Manufactured, one year of production only, less than 500 and dropping each year, stealth AMG ragtop rocketsled roadster? You can have it when my fingers go stiff. It isn't about the money.

Re: Srt6 roadsters are ri$ing
Padgett, I get it, but I drive a stick everyday, and as one of the few who experimented with auto's in the early 70's, I still can make an auto go...... I can power shift with best of them and have the busted knuckles as proof, but I like these autos, and just need to find a way to match those early days of the B&M's valve bodies of the day. I like this thread since we are being honest about the price of the cars. They are rare, and will become even more rare as the daily drivers start to disappear to the junk yards. I have a price I would take for my cars as do others, and that isn't cheap compared to Kelly blue book appraisals...It still is what someone is willing to pay in the end.
Re: Srt6 roadsters are ri$ing
I don't think there is anything wrong with hanging onto any Crossfire, not only the SRT6's. I picked up a sweet little graphite '04 six speed for almost nothing, and dang, it's fun to drive. It's not like my SRT6 but it is pretty snappy. It has 80k miles, but still runs like new and, as stated, she puts a smile on my face.

Dave, the group down at the Dragon gtg will run the twisties and I can tell you, the non s/c'd cars will stay right with the SRT's. Really no big advantage since there aren't that many straight a ways on the dragon. Now when you get out on some long straights where you can get the boost for a longer period of time.... I hope the roadsters go up in price..... We all shall see...
Re: Srt6 roadsters are ri$ing
hahaha...no doubt. I knew this would happen; the coupes won't be too far behind. As I was walking to my classroom last week from the staff parking lot, I overheard one of the cheerleaders saying to her friends "You should see his car, it's baaad."
Re: Srt6 roadsters are ri$ing
Right! The coupes will def come into their own. Not too long ago, while at a local restaurant, we watched as one of the servers coming into work noticed the car and sloooowwwly walked by turning his head and shoulders a full 180 degrees to get a solid look at the car and almost walked right into traffic.

Re: Srt6 roadsters are ri$ing
The dragon does equalize the srts and the n/as to some extent. But a week ago I was able to hit 80 between a couple of curves, which neither a stock srt or a n/a could hope to match. I remember 60+ on previous runs in my wife's stock srt. Maybe someone else has glanced at their speedo on the dragon and can concur or disagree.
Re: Srt6 roadsters are ri$ing
Low mileage SRT roadsters are going out of sight. High mileage ones are coming in cheap. ASeems everybody likes a virgin.
lately I have seen some ragtops go near $10K. But the gilded bird cage models are in excess of $22K. Talk about depreciation when you drive it off the lot!
Braggin' rights to those with a garage queen the owbners don't drive? Maybe. But I prefer ladies who know the road and what the right curve, and move, does to a man's heart.
As for value and profit, from the manufacturer to the end user, nobody has made much money off the Crossfire. I would suggest throw the accounting process away and just drive it.
