Default Machine Gray or Black on the SRT?

So i am about to purchase a SRT but i´m having a hard time deciding if i should go for a black (always good looking) or a machine gray one.
Both are about the same in mileage and price so those things doesn't matter that much.

So what do you think? Wich color is the better looking one?

Machine Gray is always better than Black. But unless you're planning on repainting the SRT, it may not be Machine Gray. Machine Gray was offered starting with 2006 models and on the remaining years (2007 & 2008). Graphite Gray was offered only during 2004 & 2005 model years. And the two colors are different despite what a paint company will tell you.

SRT6's produced & distributed in 2005 would have to be Graphite Gray, not Machine Gray (unless it was repainted).

A 2006 Machine Gray SRT6 may have been produced in the few produced for 2006, but even if it was, I don't think any of the 2006 SRT's ever made it over here for USA distribution. So if you've located a 2006 Machine Gray SRT6 in Europe, that could be a very rare car!

SRT owners can chime in on this thread.

It is a SRT made in 2006 though. One of the few!

And it is in Europe actually. So it might actually be a legitimate Machine Gray SRT.

I have not seen a Machine Grey model, they say it looks as though it has little green flecks in it in some lights.
I am not sure who 'they' are, so they could be wrong. LOL

I had a black one and it looked great when polished, but the dust showed really quickly, maybe the Machine Grey would not show the dust so much and it is a rare color.

WOW!!!

It's a no brainer for me! Machine Gray

Machine Gray will have a "bluish" look to it. Sort of like a piece of steel. I own a 2007 Machine Gray Limited Coupe.

I not a fan of black. Sapphire silver is my 1st choice but the XFire machine gray would be my 2nd choice then the other colors and black last. Are the interiors the same?

The SRT6 interior only came in one color & configuration with all exterior colors.

Machine Grey is definitly more rare.......at least it is here in the U.S. It reminds me of the "blueing" that often occures on a motorcycle's chrome exhaust pipe. (Not a good thing on a motorcycle exhaust, but looks great as a Crossfire color).
Black is always beautiful, will take more effort to keep clean, but will be easier to match if you ever need paint work.
Good Luck

That looks like graphite metallic to me on the photos. The machine gray have a more greenish/darker color in it. I would go black everyday of the week.

What is the VIN# on the Machine Gray 2006 SRT6? There are several Machine Gray SRT6's located around the world.

So far we've collected 15 VIN#'s on the 2006 Machine Gray models, located in USA (2), Australia (4), Germany (1), Sweden (4), UK (2), Czech Republic (1) and Puerto Rico (1).

Wondering if this is a 5th for Sweden or a resale of an existing one on the current list?

I absolutely think black is the best color on these cars (followed by Alabaster) BUT I have recently become very tired of trying to keep the damn thing looking good.. pollen is a *****.

The machine gray is a german one!

Ill see if i can get a confirmation on the color if it really is a Machine gray or if it is graphite metallic.
Manufactured in 2006 though. So if they stopped using graphite metallic in 2005 then it should be a machine gray i suppose.
