sluggish?
Re: sluggish?
Hi,
would I be correct in thinking.
If the intercooler pump is starting to fail it might increase heat problems and maybe the cause of the intermittent spurious alarm I have a problem with

just a thought ?

Re: sluggish?
Is the one I have. But yeah, intercooler pump. If you go with the Bosch it's going to take you 15 minutes to do yourself. If you use the Johnson it might be a little more because it's different so you have to use either a different mount or line the old one with a bike tube.
Do it yourself though. The dealership will first try to replace your whole supercharger and then when that fails they'll replace your old pump with the same pump that failed. Also, if you haven't replaced your CPS you should do that now too.

Re: sluggish?
Crankshaft Position Sensor
It is located at the left rear of the engine on the bell housing.
Replace ONLY with Bosch brand.
( There is also a Camshaft Position Sensor, but they rarely cause any problems )

Re: sluggish?
If it is the pump the car would be OK just after you started it and it is cold. The problem arises when the car warms up and the coolant in the SC circuit is not sent through the heat exchanger in front of the radiator.
The impellers on the old pumps are prone to falling apart and not moving any fluid. They are made by the sintering process I think and tend to fracture at the sharp edges on the impeller shaft splines.
I am changing mine when it warms up enough before my one fails.

Re: sluggish?
Now I have to verify 2 threads before I reply? This is getting tougher every day! I'm not giving up on giving error free and timely advice. However, thank goodness it was only a freaking parking sensor.
To the OP (original poster) your going to loose your acceleration virginity when the new pump is installed. Be careful with the beast unleashed.

sorry I have ended up cross threading
Noise was a dodgy FRONT parking sensor, I am looking forward to getting the new pump fitted and having the acceleration midrange as well as off the blocks
thank you all
Re: sluggish?
Chiming in here, just as everyone else suggests: Intercooler Pump. I just replaced mine myself with an OEM because of the same issue. HUGE difference. Night and day. Easy job; took me three hours. Next time it will take one hour, I'm certain. It was super easy, especially with the OEM Bosch pump; that one you just plug it in an go. Also GET RID OF THOSE DAMN SPRING CLAMPS while you're in there. Those have to be the most frustrating aspect of getting that pump out. Put worm hose clamps on, as suggested by many here; you'll thank yourself for paying the extra 77 cents for the pair (what I paid at AutoZone).
