IC PUMP question
IC PUMP question
I just installed a new Johnson pump, it's a lot small than the one that came off. It fit on the hoses fine and the wires are hooked up to the correct polarity. My question is when I turned the ignition on the pump does not turn. I checked before I put the hosed on. I them put hoses on and started the car and felt the pump, it does not appear to be turning. Does it not run all the time, does it only run when the supercharger is engaged. I don't want to lower the car and button it up if there is a problem. I did check the fuse first.
Thanks for the help.

Re: IC PUMP question
Pretty sure it does not run all the time (there is a mod to make it run all the time though). Someone with more knowledge of the matter will chime in. Could always use a multi-meter to check the current. I likely would just put it back together and take it for a drive. If when you step on it the car feels sluggish, it's likely not working.
Re: IC PUMP question
I had the same question when I installed my new Johnson pump . . . My experience was even more frustrating because the first brand new Johnson pump I installed turned out to be DOA. I had to get a second one.
Actually, the IC pump first turns on when the engine RPM first reaches +2000 rpm (or thereabouts). Then it will stay
on until you shut down the engine.
