Default Eurocharged tune issue

I received my euro flash cable today so figured i would get the vehicle info so i can email them the file. I could connect to the car correctly and it would fill in the vehicle info correctly, but when i went to click save and submit i would see a "Connect to the vehicle to retrieve vehicle information first" message. I have emailed eurocharged but i figured i would ask here to see if anyone has had any trouble with this step in the process. Thanks for any info.

I had the EXACT same problem when i did mine! Email eurocharge back and tell them this. You will have to probably download something called TeamViewer or something like that so Eurocharge themsleves can operate your computer and tune it upi for you!

Same happened to me, I was missing a device driver or something. They'll get it ironed out.

Gave it another try this morning and was able to get it working. It wouldnt upgrade the software or download the drivers until i ran euro-flash v2 as administrator. Sent the file to eurocharged. Im pretty excited to get the pulley installed and flash the tune hopefully Saturday if they get it to me by then.

It can be a hassle to get the tune done. Technology doesn't always cooperate. I have found all the guys at Eurocharged to be patient and get you the end product you want. None of my tunes or re-tunes have went smoothly, and it is usually my hardware and software, or lack of software that was at fault. Good luck....it will be all worth it once you press that throttle all the way to the fun button on the bottom...

I don't recommend to load your EC tune on a Saturday. If you run into a problem, there will be no one from EC to help you. If you can, do it during their normal working hours.

Read the instruction several times or better yet watch the video on the Eurocharged website. Be sure your battery is fully charged. Without full voltage the chances of a hangup are greater. Mine went super smooth, yours should too.

You may want to unplug the cooling fan, it will run the whole time you are flashing otherwise.

NOW,
I've watched that video thru to the end a couple of times and the critical part that I don't find is when they tell you about the erroneous gray box that pops up at the end that says, (and I paraphrase since I'm going off of memory) "not all packets received ... advise trying to reflash .. DO NOT TURN OFF CAR OR YOU WILL BRICK YOUR ECU .... contact us immediately "

so of course, it was after closing at eurocharged so I had to leave my key on ALL NIGHT to avoid the risk of "BRICKING MY ECU"

finally got an email from Philip at EC the next day in which he wrote, (and this is a direct quote)

"Hello chris, sorry about that last night.

If you receive the “packets” message then your car has been flashed and it is okay. At the beginning it says reflash successful and at the end I know it says please flash again so I’m sorry for the confusion.

The only message you do NOT want to see is the recovery mode one. When seeing the recovery mode prompt do not turn off the car, simply flash the car back to stock and THEN flash the performance back on.

Again, once you get the “packets” message you will be okay to turn off the key.

Let me know if there is anything else we can do."

This message comes up every time I reflash .... of course now I know. But, you'd think that they would mention this somewhere (on there site ... in the video ... on there forking answering machine perhaps? )

I think this is part of the reason it is suggested to do it when you can contact EC ...

The cable thing is funny too ... I expect EVERYONE using a V1 cable had to find out on there own that it needed a new driver (again, info that would have been useful in advance).

I expect this sounds like a rant, but I do use their products, and in the event you get the same message you may find my anecdote of value.

Cheers,
Chris

The post from Chris is exactly why I made my recommendation. Who knows what other messages can come out from this tuning software. I'm also having problems running it on a Win 8.1 tablet. Win 8 was fine.

Thanks for the heads up LateModel21. I believe I have the v2 cable and i was able to get all my drivers and updates successfully. I wish i could do it during the week, but Saturday is all I have time for. At least now ill know what to do if I see the "packets" message and I wont start freaking out..ha. Im really hoping it all goes smoothly. Thanks for the tips.

So, I've seen this recommendation from several people that have done the tune. I'm going to show my computer illiteracy here, but when doing this, do you have to start the computer in admin (if so, how do you do that - Windows XP on a 7 year old Dell Inspiron 6000?) or do you do something within the program itself to get into admin of the program? I recently received my cable and am getting prepared to do the deal, but I want to make sure I know what I am doing first.

Thanks all

RL

Im not too sure with Windows XP, but with windows 7 i just right click on the Euro Flash Program and a menu will appear, choose Run As Administrator. This was the only way i could get it to update/install drivers.

OK - I'm having trouble too . . . While Eurocharge is certainly trying to be helpful they don't seem to have a clue as to how to fix the problem I'm having . . . I've spent HOURS on this.

Obviously I downloaded the software, plugged in the USB cable and the drivers were installed. I tried running the software as "administrator" too and that didn't help either . . . I've also disabled my virus software (per their suggestion) and that didn't change anything.

My problem is I get to the "get vehicle information" area and hit connect . . . it says "connecting to interface" but then nothing more happens. It won't retrieve the vehicle information and I can't get beyond that point.

My OBDII code reader works fine in the OBDII port. Also curious that when I watch their YouTube video that green status bar in the bottom left fills that bar area . . mine only show green halfway. Then when I hit the "connect" button the other half shows yellow so green bar halfway and yellow bar the rest of the way. The software says "connecting to interface" but nothing happens beyond that.

I finally told Eurocharge that I think I got a defective cable and they are sending me another one. In the meantime, any thoughts or suggestions???

It could be the cable or your missing a driver. E/C connected to my laptop via Team Viewer and fixed what was missing. From that point on it's been smooth sailing. Since that day, tune revisions are a breeze when needed. Don't get frustrated. When it's finally working you'll be pleased with the results.
