Default Eight years later... she's still got it.

Stopped at the bank yesterday on the way home from work, and as I was rolling through the parking lot at ~5mph I noticed a guy on the sidewalk literally stop in his tracks, watch my car pass by, and as I parked I saw him in my rearview mirror still studying the car in admiration.

Some days I grow a bit weary of the Crossfire and I get the itch to start looking at other platforms... and then moments happen that remind me I'm still driving a work of art, no matter how "under-appreciated" it is by the interwebs. There are more tech-savvy platforms, there are better handling rides, and there are faster cars. But none have all three for the same price of admission as the SRT.

In person, she's still a stunner.

Exactly why every time I grow bored with mine, I just take them for a drive or take them to a car show... and be glad I have a pair of paid for cars to play with. Because the cars I want to replace them with, might out run them, but I would still be paying for them for awhile....

I use the same excuse for my wife btw.....

Same here brother.

As for my wife, she is still state-of-the art. And yes, expensive. But worth it

Thank God, I thought at first from the title that you had spotted an old girlfriend.

First thing I thought was, "has John and Kim been together that long"? It's amazing how many looks these cars provoke from the unaware.

That was my first thoughts.

I guess I'm spoiled as a Crossfire is just a Crossfire. Always good for a mild smile of pride and admiration.

But Kim , Hubba Hubba.

She is a classic one of a kind.

She is why they make heart pills for old geysers.

At first I was like "you drive an '02?!?"

But then I have to remember that the 2015 models are coming out next spring...

So I guess technically that makes mine ten years old...

I was going by the manufacture date on the door lol. I think it's March or April of '03. So 3 or 4 more months and she'll be 11!

I love people's reactions when you tell them how old it is, they just look at you like you're joking lol. It's like, no man, seriously. Look at the car it's based off of lol.

I've never understood why that is. I get releasing the next year's model in the late fall of the preceding year but to do it early in the preceding year is just nuts to me. Oh well, I never have enough money to buy new so why worry, right?

Not using my X as a DD, I appreciate it every time I get to drive it - it's like when I first bought it all over again. My wife sees it as my toy and doesn't really care about it, but whenever my brother-in-law and I go out for a beer, he insists we take the X. Tried taking my truck once and he shamed me in to going back for it

I should probably elaborate on that last statement for Steve lol. I meant stock to stock, the difference in appearance is mind boggling.

In most cases auto manufacturers will simply do it to get a "jump" on the competition... Nissan (where I work) does this with the GT-R and occasionally with the flagship models.

No one is fooled, it's like a woman saying she's 29 for ten years. But manufacturers (and women) do it anyways.

I agree that it's a bit unnecessary, but they didn't take my vote

'04 build dates on my '05 cars.... I'm not admitting to my build date. The body is starting to rust and break down. I damaged my right control arm, and had it reattached, and I'm still trying to get it to steer right...lol. OH, we are still talking about cars...sorry...
