We have heard it here before, put a CPS in and it still acts up, so people spend a lot of $ only to find, days later, that a Bosch CPS fixes it.

Again, I could be wrong and Miata's idea about testing to see of fuel pressure is there is a good idea. I wish I was there to look at it!

Tighd1 would be a good guy to have look at it. He's down south past Chandler somewhere.

Where did you find your cos?

Part number found from a post last year by 180: 0261210170. His says forum motto is Buy Bosch or walk home. (Maybe part number has changed over the year?? I guess they do get updated.)

I agree - part sounds like something to have 'on hand' like pizzaguy does.

Miss Silky - looks like a number of us are standing by to hear of your permanent fix. Lots of positive wishes coming your way. Alicia

For someone who has had trouble with their car MissSilky has decided to turn the trip from Florida to Arizona into a trip to California.
Despite the problems she must like driving.

I apologize if what I'm feeling about this whole scenario is wrong, but it just seems like this person (and the father), have had ample time to get this rectified, instead of contiinually driving what has been stated as multiple trips with the ultimate risk of totally being stranded in "nowheresville" !
Common sense would be to get it fixed, and then be on the way. I think they need to provide some credibility for their actions. Again ... I apologize if I'm wrong, and I am as willing as anybody to help someone in distress, but in this case I'm not sure .... just sayin

If you read everything you would know I've tried the cps three times in every city I stopped I had to get to California for work last weekend I again then replaced again with a new Bosch and suggested today and still didnt work. I am currently now trying to find someone to look at the rcm because it was suggested that it may need soddering on top of that I am asking the forum for other suggestions that it may be. I've done what I have been told to try this far unless you have other ideas? Which are much appreciated , thank you.

I guess I am lost in all this....I thought the CPS fixed the problem. If not, then I would look at soldering the bad joints on the RCM.... follow the "How-To" on the sticky here....Tighed1 posted that up some time ago. If it were the CPS, you wouldn't have made it that far....I think the RCM would cool down and allow you to start and run awhile....You will need to look at those joints thru a magnifying glass...as they might look to be good thru the naked eye, but usually they are not...good luck

Doc I don't think I've read anywhere in her post where the car wouldn't crank.. just that it was hard to start. Not an "expert" by any means but think I've learned enough to say this isn't going to be the RCM. Nothing when trying to crank... Dies running down the road and starts 30 minutes later.. typical RCM symptoms..

From my conversations with her, let me explain what I understand. The temperature question isn't about overheating, its an observation that I've made talking to her that once the car is warmed up, it is difficult to restart. When it has cooled down it starts although I'm not sure if it starts normally or just easier and if this is consistent. This makes me question whether it's a thermal issue with an electronics module (PCM,RCM, a sensor, or??). I am also wondering if it could be fuel starvation, It would be helpful to know what the fuel pressure is under normal and non starting conditions. She did have the fuel filter replaced by a local mechanic in Fl a few weeks prior to leaving and had no issues until the trip. I believe she said it was an STP filter. She said that once the car started it ran ok. It has no issues cranking, just starting. The check engine light is on again. Unfortunately, she said that in California, she cannot get the codes read at the local auto part store (is that a state law?).

At this point I think that she needs to find someone local that can look at the problem and diagnose what is going on. First check what error code is set and fix that, second check fuel pressure when it runs ok and when it won't start, third check electrical (ignition, spark,....)
Some other thoughts, Could it be an issue with the SKREEM module? or possibly an aftermarket alarm, is there an aftermarket alarm installed?

"I've learned enough to say this isn't going to be the RCM."
"typical RCM symptoms.." - did you mean to say "typical CPS symptoms.." ?
