HELP ASAP I'M STRANDED!!! My car stalled

The check engine light finally came on after two days of it doing this. I'm about 300 miles away from El Paso , any suggestions on what to do once I hit El Paso? Thanks everyone for your help greatly appreciated!!!!

Get a motel and find an advanced auto in the morning...? With a couple of tools it really is easy to change.. and I wouldn't have a clue about any Mercedes dealers to get the crank positioning sensor.. advanced auto can pull the code to verify.. They can bite the dust at any time.. and leave you somewhere on the highway...

Hey Bill, I've wanted to get to some of the GTG's but I've been super busy since I joined here. I'll make it to one of the GTG's soon! I bought my car in Universal City back in Oct. I still have some things to do to make it a daily driver though!
I talked to MissSilky and her Dad. Engine cranks strong, no check engine light, and most of the time it stays running once it starts. That sounds like it could be an intermittent connection on something to me. They want to keep pushing ahead and I think they were driving while I was talking to them, I hope they make it okay.
Those of you that have had the bad CPS, did you get an OBD code set when it failed? and was it intermittent or a solid failure?

This post is in response to the MANY occurrences of the "Mystery No Start" issue. Symptoms being car will die and/or will not restart but may restart after waiting for a while. Also, when attempting to start the engine all electronics work but the engine will not crank.

Engine will not crank with key at "start" position with RCM issue.. lights.. but no action.. and no cel code.. OP stated it will crank and crank and sputter..

Had the same problem last year with my 04. It would crank but would not start. Let it set for an hour and it would start with no problem. Got a CPS off eBay for $40, changed it out and have had no problems yet. I did not get a check engine light. Going to change the CPS on both 05's as a preventive maintenance.

So.............how does the story end? Enquiring minds want to know! Never had the whole "stranded far from home" thing happen to me but it's always a nagging fear in the back of my mind every time I set out for far away places. Hope it's just the annoying CPS.

I took it to autozone in El Paso they said it was the crank shaft thing a few recommended was coming up when plugged in as not working bought the part ( they only had one kind, dura last) took it to a mechanic who out it in boat things together were like 100. Now the check engine ligh is off but car is still having same symptoms any suggestions?

Tough to diagnose on the run. I only use Bosch cps. You may have a new one but for whatever reason they won't work on these cars. It could be the Relay Control Modul. You can find a sticky on here for the repair. Just some soldering. Need to look at those connections with a magnifying glass to make sure. Naked eye doesn't work.

I can't believe no one hasn't suggested this. Since you're going to Arizona, go visit "DJ" tighed1 in Sierra Vista. He'll be able to diagnose the problem and fix it.

If I'm not mistaken, haven't some users purchased a "Duralast" and fought symptoms till replacing it with a Bosch? Didn't John install a "new" .. "off brand" cps when he was chasing the stuck in the driveway at 32Krazy's house with his SRT6? I noticed the "off brand" fuel filter question - possibility was bypassed too.

I saw it too. My point was that she could go see tighed1 in Sierra Vista when she gets to AZ and have him take a look at it.

Now stopped in the a AZ for gas and it didn't want to start all took like 10 times... The filter I believe was stp is that not a good brand? Ahh I have to work in Indio Friday am any suggestions to get this fixed tomorrow?i can't be in the desert stranded. My final destination today will be Oceanside.... Is anyone from there?
