Default 0-60 MPH in the Rain

Today I was testing out the Mickey Thompson ET Streets - in the rain. I'm considering running them as my daily tire this summer, so I wanted take advantage of this opportunity. Anyway, they performed admirably, but the rain was light.

Out of sheer curiosity I decided to do a quick 0-60 run. The results sort of remided me of the old Jeep SRT8 commercials where they said, "Zero to Sixty in under 5 seconds, WET or DRY".

So I'm taking it you don't drive too far to work, eh? LOL

ET streets will be worn down rapidly with any sort of steady commute... seems you'd want to save that expensive meat for the track.

My BFG's are nearing the end of their life (thank God) and I'll be going with Nitto INVO's... always been curious about that tire, as it offers everything I look for (decent life, amazing grip, super quiet).

As of August, my work commute will be pruned down to five miles one-way, all at ~40 mph...

Quick for a XF, but slow compared to the new AWD E63 AMG.

I don't mind wearing out a set of tires every summer, and the price of ET Streets really aren't that bad at $300 shipped each. However, they don't make them in sizes I'd need, so I'll need to go with another brand. I decided to keep the Brabus Reps, so I'll be running 19's on back.

I'll probably go with RE-11's (285/35R19) once the current tires are toast.

Good man

And those RE-11's seem to be great rubbers from what I'm hearing

Crap, that sucks. That might explain why they perform so well at the drag strip, LOL. The Corvette guys love 'em but most of those guys don't turn

Did you try increasing the PSI?

Don't get too confident with them though, my friend had them and said they were more unpredictable in the rain than the bias ply slicks he has now. They would be fine one second, then he'd be hydroplaning into the next lane of traffic the next. Just a friendly heads up

I got a new personal best in the rain today on the first and only attempt. I just need to work on the reaction time.

Wow, 0 to 60 to 0 in the length of a football field + two car lengths. (Assuming you can find some "dry" pavement to stop on.

LOL

No, a football field is 300 feet long, not 100.

I did a single street-tire 0-60 mph run today in the rain -- 4.2 seconds. I don't believe this would have been possible without the 3.27 gears. Also, I couldn't be any happier with the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3's. Incredible traction in all conditions (so far). I haven't driven them on snow or ice yet.

Anyway, just though I'd post an update on the tires and gear swap.

I think my invos are slippery even when it's dry. Not as bad as the hankooks but still not going to work out. Another item on the list.

Good to know. I was considering those to replace the Contis.

You wanna make sure all those cars ahead of you are going as fast...

Awesome speed GG.

Yes - Post Wavetrac, I noticed a significant difference in the stability when I went over to the Pilots. I have 17x255 PS2's on the rear and 17x225's on the front, + they are a top speed rated "Y" road tyre.
A little pricey but they are the weakest link.
