It sounds like your supercharger pulley is failing. As a test see if the rattling changes when you turn the air conditioner on and off. The compressor changes the tension and will modify the rattle if the forum is correct and it's the pulley. Get an aftermarket 65 mm pulley and be done. It's the best way to go if it's indeed the pulley, which I'm convinced it is.

Subscribed. Thank you to all who are posting helpful responses. We all know how shitty it can be when you're trying to diagnose an issue that you're not familiar with. Without all the helpful responses the OP might have spent a ton of money at a Chrysler dealer.
Don't know where you are located OP but try to find a independent Mercedes mechanic to diagnose it for you if after tracking it down as directed on this forum you still can't figure it out. Most likely if you're talking with any mechanic who has experience with the 3.2L engine (and preferably the AMG variant), he will recognize the symptoms quickly.
If you're in the Northern VA area by chance, I can recommend two good ones:
Silver Star Motors, Vienna, VA
Silver Star Motors : 703.281.5606
Autoscandia, Reston, VA
AutoScandia | Northern Virginia European Automotive Specialists Herndon VA | Virginia State Emissions Inspection and Repair Station, Foreign Imported Car Repair Washington DC | Reston, Fairfax County, Loudoun County, Saab Auto Repair, Volvo Auto Repa

Checked the A/C thing, nothing happened...I didn't see any change anywhere though. I'll try again when I have someone to push the button while I'm staring at the belt. Thanks for the links, unfortunately those shops are kind of far away. Hopefully, I'll find something in the Annapolis/Balitmore MD area.

I really don't think more experimentation is necessary unless you're trying to find additional problems. You supercharger pulley shouldn't clank against the magnet when pushed by hand. The springs should hold it away from the magnet until the magnet is engaged. You need a pulley. I'd refrain from driving the car until a different pulley is installed.

Posting from phone. The part behind the clicking part I assume is the pulley and it did not make any noise when turned.

So it is not the spring that has failed but the rivet or rivets.

Ugh...thanks guys. And I've gotten a couple PMs regarding 65mm pulleys for sale, I appreciate those. But the difference between used and new isn't enough to get me to go used. Thanks a lot though. Expect more questions as it comes time to install. I'm going to search for some threads on it, anyone have the end all be all of pulley install threads?

65mm pulley with tune, $875
Single CAI from Needswings, $450
I've got an email out to EC about install instructions and how their tune is done, I thought I read something about it being done remote via laptop or something. It looks like I'm going to gain ~50-75hp at the wheels and do it for several hundred less than the dealership wanted just for the pulley. Right track?

Thanks the pulley kit comes with the bearing. I'm really glad to see you selling those without the crap the dealer puts you through "oh, we'll need to replace the whole SC". Right up there with the guy telling the owner of a car it'll be $250 to replace his fuel filter.
