But you can go to Natchez, pick up the Natchez Trace Parkway to the the Loveless Cafe in Nashville, then take I-40 to the southern end of the Blue Ridge Parkway and take up up through Skyline Drive.

Jetdrivr I suggest you by-pass the twisties with those summer tires at this time and just join up with the spring or fall groups. Be safe and enjoy your trip.

If you go through Bristol TN, go up to Abingdon VA and get on RT 58 East. If you like curvy roads you will love it. It also takes you to the Blue Ridge Parkway. The Parkway is also a great road. I have driven the lenth of it in VA from Luray (Where it starts as the Skyline Drive) to Mt Airey, NC. You just can't be in a hurry as the speed linit is 40.

 

Good call on the extra RCM, perhaps a battery-powered cold-solder iron would be good to have as well. I'd also take emergency items like road-side candles, maybe power inverter in case you need/have ac items you want to use, few quarts of oil to be on the safe side, you can take some distilled water if you don't want to drag coolant around and a funnel which always seems an item that I always forget. A 'special' magazine in case you get lonely... spare IC pump? lol

 

Well I made it to my final destination of Charleston, SC, this past weekend. It was a loong but fun drive. Highlights included driving on great pavement through the heartland (as opposed to the nasty OK and TX roads of the past few years), lots of curvies through the Smoky Mtns on 1-40, and seeing 32Krazy and Thirteendog in Nashville! 13dog, I could smell the gas fumes from your SL55's exhaust when I was trailing a few hundred feet behind your car going out of town lol. Running rich much? Cons included the CONSTANT drone of my resonator-less exhaust at highway speeds ( I drove with earplugs half the time) and being pulled over 3 miles from the NC state line by a sneaky TN trooper who was sitting on the shoulder with his lights off.
I'll post a few photos eventually. Definitely want to meet some other forum members at the Spring dragon! Hopefully I can take time off for it. Cheers and keep the car knowledge flowing
