6" 4" never had a problem. getting in is a sideways drop (easier when the top is down) but other than that just as comfortable as my Ford Excursion

 

I am 6ft 3", but I have shortish legs (Size 30 in Legs in Levis Jeans).. Main issue is seeing traffic lights as the windscreen frame gets in the line of vision.. Fortunately, the Aussie cars didn't have the knee bolsters..

It's all about getting the seat in the right position..

I can't say who is the tallest owner of a Crossfire, but in comparision, when I was a kid, I knew a guy who was just a tad over 7' tall who drove an MG Miget. His wife was about 4'11". Obviously, he liked small cars and small women. The fellow was the starting center for the old Virginia Squires basketball team (ABA league). I wonder how he would do in a Crossfire. I doubt he could fit in a couple, but I'm sure he'd like the ragtop.

 

It would be a pretty awesome sight for somebody who is 6'6" + to get out of a crossfire in a busy parking lot especially if it was lowered. I lowered my srt by 2" and to me it seems pretty low when looking at the roof and I'm 5'9. I stood up on a 9" stand so I would be 6'6" and the car looked like a toy, pretty awesome perspective.

 

The real question is how does he fit in his wife??

 

Good question, but I'm sure the rear door is off limits

 

I am currently interested in purchasing a 2004 Crossfire. I am approaching my mid life Chrysler day as I turn 50 in a little over a month. I am 6'4" and close to 300 pounds. Built like a NFL tight end complete with a bad knee from an old injury. I really really want this car but I don't like feeling like a sardine either.
Any further comments on this thread would be helpful. We are thinking about using this for our "getaway" car. $2500.00 for this seems too hard to pass up.

 

Too bad it's not a roadster. They have more headroom even with the top up, but alas, there were no roadsters in 2004.

 

I’m thinking of something like an bomber airplane gun turret in the roof. One big benefit is great rearward vision.

(I joined a couple of days ago and have been reading/researching to prepare for my dream purchase of a XF)

We went to test drive my first ever XF this morning..... It was a 2005 roadster. I'm 6'4" and my son was with me, @ 6'5". Have to admit, walking up to it, I looked back at my son and stated that neither of us are fitting into this car.
Our heads hit the metal support piece that runs across the soft top, and thus, in no way would either of us be able to comfortably drive the roadster....test drive ended rather abruptly.

According to this thread, there is not any reason to look for a coupe to test drive, as it will have even less head room; most likely due to the liner and insulation? I know the answer, I guess.....just can't believe proportions of us taller folk can be so drastically different. So, I thought I would post here in the hopes of someone telling me there was a limited run of XF roadster's back in 2005 with much less head clearance.... sigh!

Soooo....my dream of owning a XF is dead; feels like I lost a best friend that was always there..... somewhere....but we never met (cue violin music)

You adjusted the seat and all? At 6'5" I fit in my roadsters just fine it's the way the seats are shaped that makes the cars uncomfortable for me over an hour.

 

Yeah, I adjusted it...although, after reading your post, I started wondering if the up/down adjustment maybe didn't work! That would give me another reason to try another test drive and keep the dream alive!!!
When I realized I was too tall for the roadster, I honestly thought back to a post I read yesterday about 'performing surgery' on that rear divider wall to get the seat to tilt back a little more.

Can't give up yet....so I am going to try out a coupe.....would rather have an SRT anyways!

 

Dont bother with the coupe, you won't fit. I find if I adjust the seat all the way down and about an inch or two from being all the way back I can tilt the seat back enough to fit. I have ok headroom in the roadster, I have 0 in the coupe. I've always wondered if I pulled the headliner out if I would fit in a coupe tho. Those aero blue srt coupes are the best looking crossfire ever made.

 

You've given me hope....I will try again another day. As much as I adjusted the seats, the one thing I didn't try was moving the seat forward and then tilting it back, like you stated. I have to admit...I was a little shell shocked at the lack of headroom.

Your welcome. At that point if leg room becomes a issue you can remove the knee bolster on the lower panel.

 

I know you tall guys won't like this, but the Crossfire, to me, at 5'6", is the most cramped car I have ever owned. My seat back is within an inch of the rear bulkhead when it is adjusted comfortably. Headroom, obviously is not an issue! My comparisons include a Lotus Europa(close to the same cramped feeling), a Lotus Esprit( sold it to a guy over 6' and 250 #). I have a 62 Mini which is spacious compared to the XF and is only 10' long and seats four adults. Three Fieros are much lower, but have more seat travel, seat can be tilted more and the width is even better. Some taller folks create more headroom in the Fiero by driving with the sunroof open or removed. On the other hand, I find the exterior design to be very pleasing. Good proportions, good stock wheel to fender gap, and a lot more. Not sure how Mercedes lost all the interior room during their design process. I have never looked closely at the Mercedes version, but would assume it has very similar interior dimensions to the XF. I've often wondered how they expected to sell these things to American drivers with the limited seat travel and headroom. Lucky I'm short and skinny!

 

I’m not as tall as some of you, I’m 6’, I drive with the front of the seat base all the way up and the rear all the way down, seems to give the back of my legs extra support. I move the seat slightly forward so I can get a little recline without the seat back hitting the bulkhead. I don’t like to reach too far for a steering wheel so that works pretty good for me. My complaint is that after riding for a while I would like to switch my position and there is just nowhere else to move to. I have to stop frequently to get out and stretch.

 

am 6' and 32" inseam. (long legs), 160 lb. the 1st xf i tried was a 2004 coupe (base). didnt notice the knee bolster, but fitted well. perhaps because i was in awe i didnt notice if my knees touched.
then drove another. it was a 2005 coupe (ltd) and as still was up on a cloud. didnt notice anything else. even when i drove it back home. but after a month i began to realize that from my knees and the rest below were all full of crusts, so removed the bolster. even so, still was hurting my legs, so i ended up gluing foam all around the surfaces where my legs and elbow touch. black foam; looks nice. still about 1 inch room. no more. and the seat as low as it can be, back touching. my feet just push the pedals enough to touch the floor..
wonder if the 2004 has a knee bolster. i didnt notice it. i was up on a cloud when i drove it. also have noticed that in some models the bolster is thinner. i drive with my arms extended, the wheel almost beyond reach (and have long arms too), and the wheel being without adjust for the angle, is a serious limitation. my head almost touches the ceiling. i have learned to fit by getting my rear 1st and sit, then turn around and fold my legs and squeeze them in. i guess all sports cars are about the same.
i dont think any 1 taller would fit.
and i think mercedes designed this car for europeans, that are not as tall as north americans.

still, wouldnt change my car for anything else. when i drive it am in another dimension.
