the system we ordered has finally arrived. it is not a catback as it doesnot replace the resonator. this requires cutting your existing catback after the resonator and slipping this on. the mufflers and tips look very nice!

i have just this one here now up for grabs. im not sure on the lead time on them yet for the future.

You can market it as "used" and then you aren't bound by that policy. This year I saw a set of golf clubs advertised as "used once" for $400 under MSRP. I bought them and to my surprise brand new clubs arrived at my door. I contacted the manufacturer to confirm the clubs were authentic, and they were. Aparantly the seller buys so many golf clubs they get a crazy discount and only makes a small margin on each set.

I'd also love to hear the exhaust note on this new muffler kit. Perhaps this new muffler set, on a system w/ your Needswings catless downpipes(resonator intact) is going to be the ultimate setup for us(if it doesn't drone). But, I think it may be a hard sell w/o a sound clip. Hard to believe that Magnaflow didn't do this sound clip, like they do with others when they've finished their testing, and go to production. It makes me wonder why not. I'd love to be the guinea pig; just can't afford at this time. We never did get much response from the original test vehicle(forum member), did we?

I still have the magnaflows I removed from my XF.............I couldn't hear the radio for the drone.

 

I read somewhere that Magnaflow couldn't creat a true catback for the SRT6 because of drone. When they tried removing the resonator, there was too much drone to tame. What we have here is the compromise.

 

So...it looks like you would be paying almost $1,000...for a pair of welded mufflers. Am I missing something?

 

FWIW After looking back with a search, I found that it was Sheldon(forum member)that is (or was) sporting the prototype SRT6 Magnaflow muffler set.

 

I agree, a lot of semoleans for a welded muffler setup. What about a true Dual exhaust? Magna flow has a dual in dual out muffler with your choice of tube size and true crossover units, again with choice of tube size. Maybe small inline resonators would work I might try building my own system, deleting the rear CATs. SS tubing is also available from Magnaflow.By the way, the price on the muffler and crossover was around $200.

If you look to buy, don't go to the official Magnaflow site, go to hottexhaust.com. The official site directs you to a dealer whose prices will be higher, hottexhaust will sell direct and they list the prices. The whole setup with 2 14 inch resonators would come to under $500.

 

Looks good, but pricing is salty, as mentioned.

I had a similar steup on my last XF and was in the $400 installed range, unless I am missing something about this setup.

Would like to hear a clip though...

EDIT: My previous magnaflow was for the NA, so I am not sure how different the SRT is...

$729 to be a test dummy? Wouldnt it be more business savvy to give this set away to a trusted forum member that would post videos and give a review? There is a huge desire for exhaust kits from SRT6 owners, but as you can see, no one is gonna bite without a sound clip.

 

Mike, I am sure that Rob did not get this for free and has been sitting on this for 9 months now. I am sure he would give anyone who wanted this a great deal on it, but free is not going to happen.

 

That is very expensive, I had a full cat back system custom built to the car and had the exhaust note tuned to my requirements by the UK's Magnaflow main agents, cost £525 approx $750 the same cost as your what is effectively just a back box replacement

 

If i had the potential to sell 10 of these, I would definitely sacrifice one. It's sitting there collecting dust. He could have AT LEAST had a satisfied customer's review, prompting the movement of a few units.

My point (not disproven) is that he's going to have a hell of a time finding someone to be the test dummy at that price.

I hope someone takes it off his hands and posts videos. Like many others- I'm looking for an aftermarket solution. Unfortunately, it looks like we will all sit at a stalemate.
