Default Replaced IC pump - coolant loss - Please help!

I just replaced the IC pump and when I opened the original pump it was indeed bad. I used needle nose vice to clamp the houses so no coolant would be spilled. I started the car and pulled out of the garage to check for leaks and noticed a trail of coolant in front of me . I took off the splash guard and it does seem it's coming from the IC pump area but I cannot see from where exactly and now I got a low coolant light. Could you please advise where to actually add the coolant? (to the reservoir?) - no I don't have a service manual and would I be okay starting the car again if there is still coolant in the reservoir (although low) to check where it's leaking from?

add to the reservoir. if your system has a leak it should be easy to find. if you drained the tank you will need to bleed the system

Judging by the splash guard the leak is right where the IC pump and then then it went toward the center of the splash guard. Everything around the intercooler itself looks dry, in fact everything looks dry aside from the pump connections but it's hard to tell since they got wet during the install. Also at what point does the coolant sensor kick on? Is it a certain level in the reservoir? Thanks!

Well everything is well that ends well. Apparently I didn't set the vice clamps tight enough as I did not want to damage the hoses and the coolant spilled over into the splash guard and when I backed out of the garage it poured on the ground. I started up the car again and no leaks . Runs like a champ now, just went for a fun drive since I just got the car last week and the IC pump was ruining all the fun. I opened up the old pump and it was in a really bad shape to say the least, I'll take a pic of it in a few.

take the electrical connector off the old pump. it works great by soldering it with a capacitor onto any new pump and you have a oem plug and play setup

Here is what the old pump looked like, would it still be functional if the broken piece was replaced?

You cannot get a new impeller, so it is toast.
Is that the Stanley black chrome tool set?
