Default VRP Headers

Wondering if these would increase horse power any?
Wouldnt be for show - since they sit so low behind the cam blocks.

You should pick up a couple of horses... if they actually fit. They do look really good though!

I can't see how these could fit. Look under the hood

I heard a rumor that Needswings has recently finished a beautiful set of Inconel exhaust manifolds for the c32, and will be starting a set for the SRT6 soon. Rob is the man if this is true! Actually, Rob is the man even if this isn't true.

It appears that headers and turbo's just aren't in the cards for the Crossfire.

couple of horses for $900!.....and you cant see 'em when you lift the hood to show your mates....

maybe a pass for me....I like impressing my mates most of all.....(sarcasm)

They are for an SLK32, not sure why they woudl be any different for an SRT6 tho - but funnier things have happened between these 2 cars....

The rumors are correct. Rob is actually working on a set of headers to our cars. They are only on testing phase but maybe for the next season they have some candy for us. Would be really interesting to see the dyno results.

If Rob makes them I'll buy them, unless I cave and make my own.

Well, being a long time member and longer time reader, I remember a few SRT-6 owners that tried these headers. From what I can remember the headers made contact at several points with the body. And they made little or no difference in peak numbers. I really miss 240's rant thread.

Okay - so after reading alot of the old threads about these and the other headers.....it seems if properly done there is 20-40 rwhp to be made with some correctly designed units.
This suprises me 'cause if there was that to be made - I would have throught AMG would have "extracted" that horsepower from the cars in the design phase - maybe I'm elevating AMG too highly...maybe they just knock them out - afterall one of the biggest/strongest drivers for these AMG systems would be the factor note/sound.
Someone with "certified ears" in the AMG stable would come along oneday and go ..."yep - sounds good" and all further design would be frozen in time. Regardless of some more enthusiastic engineers going - but boss we could get another 20rwhp !....but...but...

anyway ....

Long tubes are better for low speed performance, short tubes like these VRP headers I originally posted in #1 are more likely better for high rpm....so drag racing - sure.
In the VRP's there are also Series 1 VRP headers and Series 2. The series 1 ones suffered from a couple of minute but troublesome binding points and - most importantly - some cracking which required welding - but no unfixable.

Long ones are obviously more difficult to fit - but ultimately the more everyday superior option ....
eg:
Dyno-Comp - Blog

I had a read of the wiki -
Exhaust manifold - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
may help some newbies.

More than llikely I would suggest to buy these at $1000-1500 if you can fit them yourself - for the stated performance gains when compared to the other $100/hp you spend on coolers and pulleys and the like - it isnt a bad deal.
But - if you ring around and get to know your tuners/manufacturers - there are some smart guys out there that know all there theory and should be able to manufacture a set (like Vlad) but for your specific needs - ie: low or high rpm, and your setup...etc...and extract maximum effect - but it would cost!..I'm guessing >$2000 but you'll probably get a few more hp..... but I'd hazard a guess you would then be thinking about twin pipes and loosing your wheel well in the trunk - but hey - what's important here!

other stuff...

Too bad these are so courageously expensive. They look good but not worth the money they want (bang for the buck) wise. I am waiting to see what turbomar comes up with.

I think you had it right the first time. It took a lot of courage for them to ask $3,000. for those headers. I understand R.&D. and all, but trying to recoup that in just a few sets is a bit much, IMHO.

I've put in an offer on these VRP (headers private sale) NIB - dodgy welding but may help some air flow.
Wow - Vadim really made some enemies ina short timeframe. 2008....all cool - 2009 - big trouble in little china.

Anyways
Attracton was the bolt on DIY in prep for my wavetrak I ordered 2day and Code3 pulley going on in a few weeks.
If they crack/hole - I'll rip em out, weld em up and see how we go.

Money might have been better spent on a dashDaq - but hey ......Christmas will be here soon.....
