if you think the 65mm creates a lot of heat try stacking it with a 178!!

[i was told that with anything beyond the 65mm pulley should have a Supercooler installed. I probably will get to this later in the year. Another thing i would like to get the AFR system needswings sells as well as the Waldig fuel kit.
I am just wondering if these should be done prior to the 62mm pulley or if i would be okay, just a bit hot. Again, they are on the list but im taking doing this piece by piece. already have the DCAI, tune, EC65mm pulley(soon to be for sale if this guy ever ships the item as i paid over 2 weeks ago).

The dyno #'s are not what I would have expected. Lower than I would have liked to see given the better #'s I saw between the stock pulley and the change to the 65mm.

4th gear pull only netted 342 rwhp
My 65mm pulley with the same mods was at 328 rwhp
remember this is done at an altitude of 5382 so figure that along with humidity at 8% and 92 degrees F
29.64 bar and the adjusted rwhp would be 369

This means 20 rwhp increase with the 62mm from 65mm then I suppose?

342 - 328 = 14...

Unless you're counting the hypothetical, sea-level adjusted horses.

Based on his dyno results, and EC posted #'s for their pulleys and tune, I'm guessing that the new 62mm pulley exceeds a 185 crank pulley in horsepower, but probably a little less in torque than the 185.

My excuse is that I have been playing basketball 3vs3 for about 2 1/2 hrs with pro ballers so I am knackered.

14 rwhp is correct

I put the new 62mm pulley on today and everything was going well until torquing the bolt holding on the pulley, SNAP, ****. I called a local chrysler dealership and they only could quote me for the ENTIRE ASSEMBLY for a couple THOUSAND! Mecedes is already closed. Anyone know where i can get a replacement bolt. I went to Napa and got one with the same thread and length so i could alteast get it home but im sure the strength is lower or atleast its not one with the hole to help cool running throughout.

I don't even attempt to reinstall the stock bolt when I'm changing out pulleys. I use a solid bolt from a hardware store for peace of mind.

The hole through the middle is not to keep it cool, it is so that it breaks after too much stress, bolts like this are often replaced after a single usage as they grow in length when tightened too much and are weaker as a result.
They act as the weak link in the chain and break to save other parts from damage. When torqued to the correct specs they stretch rather than add ever increasing clamp pressure on the bearing sides, too much pressure and the bearing will buckle and reduce the running clearance of the ***** and lead to early failure as a result.

You may have tightened it too much, the specified torque in this case may be too much for a solid bolt, the spec is for a hollow bolt and allowance is made for that in the torque spec.

Dave, sorry to correct you but this isn't true. Yes the bolt is a strech bolt and like pretty much every bolt on a benz, it's advised to replace it after it's been installed and then removed. This really has no correlation on the bolt being hollow as every other stretch bolt is solid. What that hole is there for is to keep the gear case pressure in the supercharger housing from blowing out the seals as the temp raises and the oil and resulting air inside the gear case expands. This is why there is a distinct smell from the front of the supercharger. And for the low torque rating of the bolt, it has nothing to do with the changing the clearances of the bearing, it's simply so you don't snap off the new bolt you put in. The same bearing is used in crown forklifts and is torqued town to 100nm which is almost 75 ft-lbs. I'm going to ask MikeR if he would make 20 or so of these for the guys on here because this will continue to happen more and more as these cars find new owners.

With how fast you're spinning that supercharger and the added heat you're creating, you more than most need the hollow bolt.

If MikeR accepts and decides to make these, I'll take (2) please.
