Finally lowered it
Finally lowered it
After four years of owning my crossfire I put a V 8 in it, now after five years of owning my crossfire I lowered it. I didn't lower that much, but I'm about an inch and a half to two inches away from the tires both front and rear. Right now I'm in the process of getting the car balanced, (not the tires ,,but the car), once I have that done, I could be finished with all the mods that I'm going to do. Jim
P. S. Take a look at the Pictures, let me know what you think.

Re: Finally lowered it
Looks nice... With the heavier V8 in it, some other tidbits on lowering you may want to consider (from another link that you may or may not have viewed). What sort of HP/TQ are you getting out of that V8 with the lightweight/nimble SRT-6? .... or SRT-8 in your case.

Re: Finally lowered it
most cars come from the factory balanced,,that means weight of the left front (scales under each tire) and the right rear weigh 1600lbs the left front weighs 805lbs and the right weighs 795 that =1500 now the right front weighs 815 ,,the left weighs 785 total 1600,,, the car is balanced
but if the right front weighs 815 and the left rear weighs 800 that is 1615,,,, the car is out of balance,, you can bal. a car with coil overs and a little lead shot.
now with my V8 my car is nose heavy, it goes on the scales this week I need more weight on the right rear, that means i will need to remove weight from the left front. I can do this by changing the spring pad,,or coil overs.,, this is important in any car that is used on the track.,,we do this when we make a larger engine change or move an engine back,,,this is my first of having the engine moved forward and then try to bal the car.
the end is to have the car Xed equal weight left ft. & right rear AND right ft. &left rear,
the total of each part of the x ( / ) ( \ ) must equal each other. hope this helps, jim les belo links are for you

Re: Finally lowered it
Looks great. Something I would like to do as well, but it may take me 5 years to get around to it. The balancing process sounds complex, and it seems like you really need to know what you are doing! I am not an advocate for spacers at all, I am suspicious of them (although many people claim, if done right, you will have no problems), but playing the critic here - I think what would make your car look even better, would be to have the rear tires more flush with the lip of the wheel well. That will probably cause more trouble than its worth, but that is something that bothers me about my SRT, and I wish I could change if I had more time and knowledge.
