Our SRT6 needs a new home :(
Our SRT6 needs a new home :(
I have been fighting this idea for the past few months. Earlier this week Liz comes home from driving it with 2 traffic tickets and a curbed up rim which puts me over the edge. The tickets don't bother me but the perfect rim that is now toast still greatly upsets me. The response from her is that she didn't do it, WTF!!! i washed the car sunday morning and the rim was perfect then and i didn't drive the car since. So we must have some ninja's lurking around that can magically do it.
The main reason i have been considering letting the car go already is the fact that i just do not fit comfortably in the car. We are now back up to 7 vehicles for the 2 of us here so something has to give.
I can either get a replacement rim to fix the recent issue or i can just put the factory rims back onto the car. i was planning on swapping parts on the srt6 this weekend and getting her back to stock but i ended up playing with the GLH instead. So as of right now the srt6 is still a turn-key 11 second monster.
Right now the car still has a chrysler powertrain warranty that is good for the next year or 28k more miles. 05 black coupe with nav, 52K on the clock and has always gotten the absolute best of evevrything it ever needed.
My latest plan would be to pull off all the goodies and trade it in as i don't want to deal with tire kickers or joy riding kids that cannot afford it. So my question is, does anyone want the car as is with all the goodness still installed?
As for future mods for you guys.... we have a few already in the works but those will be finished up on our c32.

Re: Our SRT6 needs a new home :(
You know you love her...so be nice to Liz...lol... Yeah, I know, I would simply kill Laura...lol
I can't imagine you without the 6, but I do understand. And, since I drove it last year, I will attest that it is still an 11 sec as is... Nice ride already modded.... Very clean... And, I know Rob hasn't had time to race much...so low miles on the track as well. Liz, we still love you, but, shorter dresses for the cops, because we are dirty old men....

uuhhh...I second that sentiment. Buy another rim, its only money. I'd love to have my wife back just to tell her that (or some other dumb thing along those lines). As to you not being comfortable in the car, okay sell it. I'd trade it in for a stupid heavy GT-R, but that's me.
Re: Our SRT6 needs a new home :(
Rob, tell me it ain't so! I know I havent posted for quite some time now but I still check in from time to time. My 05 now has 67k on it and is just beginning to get broken in! The best miles are sure to come. Take a deep breath and....... well......... keep looking for the ninja's when the sun goes down.

Re: Our SRT6 needs a new home :(
I think we've already hit that plateau... As Steve mentioned in another thread, the formula for creating a fast SRT has been written several ways. With these cars, it seems the more you do, the less you gain. Case in point, Steve has every imaginable mod on his car, and is still a 11.9-12.1 car... Mimi (down in FL) has like, four mods, and nails consistent 11.8's... I have three mods and nailed a 12.3
Now, it goes without saying that Steve's car is built nearly bulletproof at this point... the fuel system is as safe as can be (looped), the cooling system is beefed up, the motor is getting all the air it needs (perhaps too much, for the OEM exhaust). But, the ROI on these cars is pretty low once you get past the basic "pulley/tune/CAI/drag-radials" mod list. Want easy 11's? Give it a puff of NOS and hook a 1.7 60'.
Let's not grow numb to what our cars are accomplishing -- We have cars that can pull 170 in a standing mile, low twelves/high elevens in the 1/4 mile, and class-leading handling on the road course... all with six cylinders and archaic suspension. Our numbers put us in direct competition with all of the best sports cars currently offered... and even some of the slower "supercars"... and my car costs less than their brake job. Nothing to be ashamed of.

Re: Our SRT6 needs a new home :(
I would think Moparman would cut loose a spare SRT-6 rim for cheap if it's just a matter of replacing the rim.... If it goes beyond the rim to having Liz being more careful, perhaps you can convince her to use one of the other 6 cars. As a fellow multi-car owner, there are several I never let my late-wife drive, and I told her why.... She's just not that great behind the wheel.... Have her learn to deal with that fact (tickets, bangs, scrapes) and have her jump into a Yaris and use it like a tug-boat......
Re: Our SRT6 needs a new home :(
Well, #1, Rob doesn't run stock SRT6 rims...so, nice try. #2, if Liz reads any of this, she will kick his @ss, she can do it, and #3, he hasn't sold it yet....and last, but not least, I don't think he is done dreaming up mods for our cars just yet. LOL... We all love you Rob. You know I would have killed someone if I had found the person who hit my door up there last year. We just love these cars.....lol. Happy modding....back to reality.

Those that are interested in buying Rob's car must possess a valid pilots license.http://www.henrypayne.com/wp-content...nCrossfire.gif
Re: Our SRT6 needs a new home :(
Were are the car and mods listed and what is the asking price?
If you trade it in, won't you still have 7 cars?
How is the warrenty still in effect with mods? The service manager at my local dealership discussed what would void my warrenty when I brought the car in with a Needswings single intake, thats why I run an SL55.
