Super Charger AMG placard
Re: Super Charger AMG placard
Not entirely true.
If you can find a MB parts department that only sees dollar signs, do the following:
You're welcome.
If you can find a MB parts department that only sees dollar signs, do the following:
- Find a VIN from a 3.2 Kompressor powered AMG (SLK32, C32)
- Contact dealer
- Order part number 000 221 12 01
- Pay $100
You're welcome.

Re: Super Charger AMG placard
If the rest of the world views the AMG letters in as sacred a fashion as you do, then sure... But I'd hazard to say most everyone views it as an internal tuning wing of a company that is 13th in global sales, not a deity.
Re: Super Charger AMG placard
its no different than putting roush on your mustang when it wasnt built by roush. if you know the builder thats 1 thing if you dont then its simply posing. would you apply a tag on your car that you know isnt the correct or the truth? i dont think so. im not saying the engine isnt an amg engine simply that the builders signature isnt the correct builder therefore its a poser

Re: Super Charger AMG placard
Indeed. But, if you don't know the exact builder, you risk being a poser.
I say, risk away. People at a car show will walk by and go "sweet ride" and keep walking. Doesn't matter if you've spent $50,000 in mods or if it's factory-fresh, most people give any car at a show a 15-second look, then keep shuffling along.

Re: Super Charger AMG placard
as for the 02 slk32 i had the same issue with my first 32. no medallion. no way i would put one on because everyone in the know would know it was fake. for some its ok for me not gonna happen
Re: Super Charger AMG placard
i wear the ink to show my pride in the brand i drive not to fool someone into thinking this guy actually built my engine.

Not entirely accurate. See my pic of our SRT engine from an official Chrysler Inspired Drive event.

Re: Super Charger AMG placard
I feel the same way about tats
I may get one for *****-n-gigs... More to showcase the fact that it was hand-built, not to champion the name of some random German. As discussed on the phone, the SRT-specific placards are no longer available, so it's this (what was likely originally on there as a service part, then later removed by Chrysler) or nothing.
It's a low-priority mod for me because it's $100 for something that no one will see except at a car show. For $100, I know a guy that does laser-engraving. Might just make one SRT-specific

Clearly on the photos above, the name plate hadn't been removed yet since it wasn't a factory installed motor. Curiously, the manis are present.
Very interesting, thank you for sharing.
Re: Super Charger AMG placard
I could hug you for posting this... As an employee with Nissan for nine years, I know some "ins and outs" of the service parts industry with manufacturing corporations. I've been saying for years that the SRT motor was the exact same hand-built AMG motor, and likely had an AMG placard to begin with. When Daimler-Chrysler decided that it needed 2,944 motors (2,016 coupes, 928 roadsters) the AMG service-part replacement long blocks (10102-xxxxx part number in Nissan) was retrofitted with SRT manis, and the name plate was removed and the residue was sanded off. Note the "AMG" on the supercharger is still conspicuously displayed for all to see.
