Default Sensor keeps popping out

Search didn't reveal anything.
It's some kind of air sensor behind the super charger that pushes straight down into a hole in the top of the motor and is held in with 2 plastic tabs.

It keeps popping out under heavy acceleration and the motor sputters and quits.

I was wondering if I could wrap a zip tie around the tabs to hold it in better or just replace it? I'm trying to avoid the Dodge dealer.
Thx

If it still works I'd try the zip tie or something to hold it in rather than spending the money for a new one. It's about $43.00 from the dealer or you can find it online for $25-$35 . Part# 5080343AA

Ok, that number supersedes to 5149209AA. I'm guessing the part was redesigned with better tabs.
Looked online at places ilke Rockauto.com and it's $35 with shipping but the reviews were not good if there was a problem with the order or part.

Spring Dodge (Grrrr) has them in stock for $50 so for $15, I'm going to hold my nose and walk into the stealership.

yes, this happened to the roadster while at the CAA in St. Louis a few years back. Didn't figure it out until I got it home. Buy a new one. Make sure it is seated properly.

And when you replace it, be sure to install the sensor first and then plug in the connector. The connector actually keeps the little tabs that hold it in from letting it pop back out under boost and if you plug it in and then install it, you run the risk of breaking the tabs.

Done. Initally, they were going to replace it under warranty and put the car in the shop. 20 munutes later he came back and said it wasn't under warranty and pulled the car out of the shop (GRRRR). After completely waisting 1/2 hr of my time, I bought and installed the part in their parking lot.

The new one fit's A LOT tighter.

Now the blowers not working (Grrr). It seemed to be working ok before but was intermittant afterwards and now it's not working at all.
There's 10KM on the car. Could the IC pump be gone already or is the temp switch defective?

at 2000 rpm the pump kicks on and stays on until the key is turned off. rev it and reach inside the pass footwell door and feel the pump to see if its working

just following along here.

Are you talking about the supercharger not working after the intake air temp sensor you replaced?

Steve you're talking about the fan blower motor for the A/C and heater right?

The short time that I was driving mine before my project I had intermittant supercharging as well. It felt like a transmission problem to me at first since my only experience with previous cars has been none clutch supercharging. I have since wised up reading through threads and am sure it is something with the IC air temp sensor or IC pump.

Sorry, I was a bit frazzled and not typing clearly.

Blower= supercharger.
Temp switch = air temp sensor.
Is there a way of figuring out which is not working?
Thx.

Brian, I have a spare temp sensor. Are you going to the cars and coffee on Sat ? If so I'll bring it with me, and we can try it out. If it's not the sensor, then I'm afraid it probably is the pump...........No biggie, $150 and a couple of hours, bring it round one weekend and we'll get it seen to..........

I need to check my IC pump too, where and how can you feel if the IC pump is working inside the car at the pass. foot well? I figured the only way was to be outside the car checking the actual pump.

Hey Dave. Yeah, I'm going. There's a thread in the "South" section.
Hoping to get there early for a decent parking spot.

That thing was unreal last month. Wasn't it?

You can take the inspection cover off the passenger side fender liner,(at the front of the fender well) and see and feel the pump.

I'll be there early, but I think I'm bringing the neighbors kid, so I'll be going straight home afterwards....

Yes, I thought this was the only way to feel the pump. I may be translating footwell too literally.
