Default Oil

What oil do you use for your engine ? I'm thinking about using Castrol TWS Motorsport 10w60.

I don't think 0W40 is best for track use.. 30 minutes on Brno Circuit - oil temperature around 150 °C

Until you get to those 150 deg temps, your oil may not get to where it needs too...

AND, if the engine is nearing 200, I don't think 150 deg oil temp is excessive!

I think agree with Ghost that 60 would be too thick. I currently have the mobil 0-40 in my srt, in my limited i used to run amsoil with great luck and was never noisy like the mobil was

I have really good experience with 10w60 Castrol used in friend's honda ctr (9000 revs). That engine looks after 130 000 km better than another 60 000km engine. (has better compression...)

You might have with another car but from what everyone says on here for this engine you SHOULD NOT change from the 0w-40

Actually, Mobile 1 5W50 is approved for MB 229.3 (or .5, I forget).
I researched this last year and it is, indeed, approved.

But there is no way in hell I'd put anything thicker in there OR anything not approved by .3 or .5

In fact, I can honestly say that it would be the ONLY other oil my car would ever get.
But just try to FIND it anywhere....

DZL... are you watching your oil pressure? I think you'd be surprised to see how high it already is with 0W40 in there. (I have a gauge on my car.)

That's almost as thick as gear oil. We have many racers on this site and I think that they use the 0w40 Mobile One that is recommended.

recommended doesn't mean best for every use (for example for 60 minutes on track like Brno circuit, Most circuit, Slovakiaring and Hungaroring)

Why ask the question if you don't want our answers?

Hi I know my post count is super low and I'm not going to listen to your opinion even though I'm asking for it, but do you think my car would fly if I put the wings off this thing on it?

Thanks and I look forward to arguing with you about your opinion on my question which I never really wanted an answer for in the first place.

Talking Re: Oil

When I was racing I went to a single weight oil like 30 or 40 for film strength. Multiweight oils foam more at higher revs. Woody
