Default Possible group buy for headers

Anyone interseted in another group buy for headers? I stopped into a local shop (Stainless Works,Stainless Works Performance Headers & Exhausts) today to check into the cost of one-off headers.... Needless to say a group buy is the only way to go. They were certainly intersted in a possible group buy, so I am just checking to see how much interest there would be out there.

considering theres already a g/b in progress for headers from speedriven and we are going on 6 months development i dont think there would be much interest in a unknown shop

They're not "unknown", well perhaps to Mercedes owners. All the hardcore people are in on the group buy with Speedriven. There are many on the sidelines waiting for results and I doubt they'll jump until results are posted since they didn't already. But good luck and don't give in without really trying first.

Where is the group buy for the speedriven headers? It's not on the group buy section. Anyways I'm sure if dynos are provided along with quality pics many would be interested. Competition drives prices down

*edit* nevermind, found thread for headers

I am on the sidelines till I see results. I already have one set if headers - a set that has fitment issues.

Do not take that comment the wrong way I do not expect any issues with the Speedriven headers I am just not willing to invest more money until I see hard numbers.

I counted 4-5 people requesting a 2nd waiting group for speeddriven's. The first group started about 8 months ago so there is interest.

Might be some interest in a different type, but results on paper will sell it.

Would be good to know the price for a group buy though.

They do entire stainless exhuast systems-

Have to agree here.. numbers will sell the product with a reasonable price. Problem is nobody wants to step out and invest into prototypes without cash laying on the table for the R&D expense. Would be nice to see a money back guarentee on a min. horsepower increase. That would have people on board. As it is I'm getting ready to drop 3 grand on an "expected" hp increase - but I do have total faith in BEGi for a top notch setup. And this could be ideal as I would most likely be past turbo mod by the time this gets put together.

Not quite the results I was hoping for. Thought there would be more interest. The speeddriven group buy is going on eight months and I would think patience would have run out by now. I would be in on it if there was more info. or updates.

considering we waited over a yr to get the wavetrac diff, this is a cakewalk. speedriven is a proven m/b modder and we are a patient group.

Speedriven utilize any 3D cad modeling or just trial and error fitup? Just kinda curious as within 30 days one could develope a highly detailed engine bay model and do "virtual" proto types.

im not sure if they have this capability or not. i do know the fit is extremely tight ( everything has to be installed from underneath with the engine lifted) and building equal length headers has proven to be a challenge on the drivers side. in the past true tubular headers have had fitment issues with the tubes hitting the frame and each tube bend was cut and welded into place. speedriven is trying to build mandrel bent tubing with no fitment issues. ill just wait until they decide the outcome.

I've only glanced through that thread, but are they "solid" purchasers as far as you know? Just making reference to the carbon fiber hoods, and the possiblity of new buyers needed to complete the sale of the first run. At that point you would at least have some HP numbers behind them.

All the people on the list put down $100.00 up front. If the headers don't make any appreciable power who knows what happens next. I believe the supercharged M112 engine will show impressive gains. The N/A I'm not sure about, but I don't build headers. I just buy them and enjoy.

If I'm not mistaken the carbon fiber hoods had a "down payment"? Thinking these wouldn't hurt spool up of a Turbo any.

The people I've talked with said they would need 4-6 weeks to produce a one-off set for me. They also said they could spend countless hours tweeking them and all that would likely only result in a 1-2 horsepower gain/loss. I asked about approx. numbers of power gains and they estimated 20-30 rwhp without a tune but added that a tune would be necessary to realize the full gain of possibly 40+. I am trying now to decide if I just pay the price for the one-offs with the hope that more people will want some after they see the dyno results. If I knew their was enough buyers I would be happy to do it. But then if I could see the future then I would just pick winning numbers for the 500 million lotto jackpot

I enquired about having a set custom built and was told $1200 minimum up to $1600 and lots of trial and redesign to see what the car responded to. Not to mention they would still be log style headers.

you do realize thats 4 to 6 weeks with YOUR car right? they have no idea without a car in the shop what obstacles they will encounter just to get the headers to fit. then after that its about making them perform. this isnt your mamas honda

Yup, sure do. Not thrilled since the spring weather here in Ohio has been great and I love that top down. But that seems a small price to pay.

And on the bright side.. Headers and exhaust is what they do.. not a sideline venture. See if they will work a deal.. %5 refund for the next 10 sets of headers sold for prototype funding and vehicle?

They have a win + after those next 10 and you win too end the end.
