Default Broken Motor mount/bracket?

I'm still finding things to work on. The new thing is, I am pretty sure, is the motor mount on the left/driver side. I noticed suddenly that when I had my hand on the shifter and accelerated, the **** would move slightly. I don't really "get on it" very often, but yesterdy, when I got up to 120mph quickly, when I first accelerated, I thought I saw the hood vibrate once and the shifter moved a little. When I got home I noticed that the top of the oil filter had hit the top of the hood and put a hole in the insulation. If anyone doesn't agree with me, that it is the engine mount, I would like to hear what you think. My other ? is: Is it just the rubber motor mount or the motor bracket? And what would cause these to break? The car has 72K miles on it, so it isn't new, but it seems like something like this shouldn't break this early. Does anyone think something caused this to break other than normal fatigue? Also, although I don't think that this has been broken for long, could the movement of the broken left side cause any problems for the right side to fail too? Sould I replace both? Should I buy new ones, or could I get one from a totaled SRT/NA? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

The motor mounts are liquid filled and you can tell very easily if one is blown..... there is a thread here that gives some info on what to buy and good prices I think.... not a common failure but it has been reported by a few.... do a search and you should find some info...

Definately a blown motor mount... I blew both motormounts and the tranny mount. They are a PITA to change yourself (well tranny is easy).

I blew the left 1 out and subsequently put a cable on the frame to the block to "strap" down the motor....no more blown motor mounts!

I have been through several sets of motors mounts. Finally filled a set with Poly and am not looking back. I also filled the transmission mount. I got tired of having to replace them every ~20k miles or so.

My motor mounts failed also. I had some machined out of Delrin. No more problems except for the TEETH chatter! Was planning on having some made up out of 85 durometer Polyurethane like in my other cars but never got around to it. I drove the car once I think a year ago. She just takes up space like a queen in the garage.

I just saw the pics of how Waldig cables his engine down. Wow, that sure seems like thick cable to be using! Could you use a nylon or would there be too much heat. I guess it just seems like overkill to me, but I don't want to have to do it again. Does the left/drivers side mm break more often because of the direction of the engine torque? Do I need to do the right side too?

Got to watdh the cable to be sure that it does not rub on the brake line on the chassis. The cable has some give and it is gradual in its restraint. The driver side pulls up and the passenger side goes down due to the torque reaction. I used about 1/4" plastic covered cable stainless cable. Woody - ENJOY
