I've been asking, nay, begging for an invite to a closed/private 1/2 mile event for quite some time now and it looks like I'll be allowed to participate in the exhibition class. This event is mostly exotic and european cars, high horsepower Corvettes, Vipers, and at the last event a few Mustangs. (GT 500's 2012 Boss etc.) They are slowly opening their doors and I'm one of the first to step through. I'm excited as can be. It may be fun to start a competition to guess my 1/2 mile time but first some information about my car.
Last dyno was March 13, 2012/340hp and 320 torque
My car weighs 3300 lbs. with me in the drivers seat
My best 1/4 mph is 113.
Rear tires are Hankook Ventus RS-3 285/35/18
I'll have 91 octane in the tank mixed with some Sunoco 104.

145 would be beyond my expectations but thanks for the vote of confidence. I'm thinking between 135 and 140.

Les, I can hit 130 on the long highway on ramp down the street...granted it is downhill a bit.....but it isnt a 1/2 mile either.... you should get 140 I would think.... but, my car may be faster than yours???

 

I need to take a look at your mod list ..... yes, your car may be faster than mine. But I have magical links to help with weight transfer!

If they use a radar trap triggered in last section.... I would say 140 easy.. depending on wind and OAT...

 

Here in P.R. the wind is usually from the east at 15 mph. The speed varies depending on what time of day it is and if the land is heating up or cooling down. The 1/2 mile is run into the wind. I'm not sure how the speed is measured. I think photo cells are used. I'm installing my Needswings intake manifolds tomorrow then hitting the dyno once more. New rear tires and cross your fingers. I found out my Porsche/2012 Mustang GT buddy really worked the organizers to get me in. 145 or bust!

Tomorrow is the big day and rain is forecast but I'm still hoping the event isn't canceled. The paint is as slick as I could make it and I decided against doing any major changes to the aerodynamics for this event. (skinny fronts, lower front lip ) The Needswings manifolds are installed and the final dyno was 352 hp and 339 torque. Wish me skill and good fortune! I need a retune to get more out of them but they are still in a safe range. I have 5 gallons of Sunoco 104 that goes in the car just for an added margin of knock resistance.

I am thinking 138 mph is possible. That second 1/4 mile will go by really fast as your going 114+ - at the end of the first 1/4 mile.Maybe 7 seconds of acceleration time.Not much to ramp up the speed.

Take video from inside the car, if possible... you don't want a Go-Pro killing your aero

 

I don't think my aerodynamics are going to be very good with the 255's on the front no matter what. The GoPro is all charged up and ready. I'm thinking about sticking it on the inside of the passenger window.

Suffice to say, Steve was running 4" wide skinny tires on his SLK last weekend and they didn't help him one damn bit

I just walked in the door and my best time was 139.23. I'll do a write up with pictures, video, etc. tomorrow. We had an 18 mph headwind all day long which made 4th gear accelerate S-L-O-W-L-Y. I wanted to do 140 oh so badly. Next time.
