Default Next mod ported heads?

I am a newbie to this forum and currently own a black SRT-6. I have a Needs wings dcai and a SC pulley with a tune as well as a oil catch can. I have researched quite a bit but have not found much info on ported heads and new cams. I do see that both are available but not too many members add this to there mod lists. Do these mods give you any real increase in HP and lower 1/4 mile times?

Thanks for your help

Gary

not sure were you found cams. thats a lost mod with this engine. as for head work it is a great mod but very expensive. i would do all the other mods first. then if you have an extra 3000$ laying around have my heads p/p!!

I am one of the very few with cams. They are a nice mod but I would put them pretty low on the list. The heads look good on paper but I have not seen anyone put their mouth where they money is or show the HP/Torque or 1/4 mile improvement from the heads.

I know...rather knew a few guys that had head work done on their C32's and the gains were minimal. As Steve said, if you have a source for cams please feel free to share with the rest of us.

I wonder if cams would be a more productive endeavor for your turbo v. the s/c...what do you think?

Eek, $2400 for camshaft...not sure if that is worth the $100/hp you will see at the very most...if you even see that much gain.

We might wanna check with Rob at needswings as he was doing some work on a set of heads , and we could save reinventing the wheel by seeing his gains.........What say ROB, how did it go? Woody

I am sure Rob does great work and his work is deserving of that price. With that said, I was at the local head shop today and was quoted a lower price for a p/p. The shop has been in business here in Ohio and comes highly recommended from most of the motor heads in town. I'm considering this route but still like to see some before and aftershocks on the dyno before I commit either way or at all.

considering the cost of the heads and the work involved if the shop hasnt doen a set of mercedes before i wouldnt let them do it. on mbworld a shop needed 2 sets of heads. 1 set went to far and power dropped. needed another set to know how far to work the heads. this isnt a set of mustang heads that are available in every scrapyard

Eurocharged can port the heads for you also. They have learned a lot since Jerry first ported his heads. The price is better than for the Needswings heads but I don't believe they have a set to use as a core so you will have to pull your heads and ship them.
