Exclamation Rut-row :(

I'm sure as most everyone has gathered from my last post... That I am a new owner of a 2005 SRT-6. Well , with that being said - it looks like I am having my first car trouble. This morning my car started to make noise, coming from the front drivers side - it only makes the noise when I am turning left or if I go over a speed bump. I am not quite sure what it could be. Here is a video I took to possibly help diagnose the problem. HERE IS TO HOPING IT'S A SMALL PROBLEM!

I made the mistake of actually watching the video full-screen.

Not that I have cleaned up my mess, I suggest you find a friend to sit in the passenger seat to run the recording-I really couldn't hear anything with your phone not staying in the same place or at least sitting still.

Is it coming from one side? Or both? Can one hear it as you pass by them? (A friend)?

Just trying to get more info.

You couldnt hear it? I just watched the video and heard it fine, but than again I know what I am listening for. It's only coming from the front drivers side near the wheel (I am assuming) it only happens when I turn the steering wheel left, or if I go over a speed bump turning slight left.

Are there any marks on the wheel well liner? Is the tire rubbing? Are you running OEM tires and wheels? Front tire size, OEM is 225-40 18.

It's definitely not the tire rubbing, it's either something to do with the swaybar or along those lines. It sounds like an old metal door hinge dully creaking.

Park the car with the wheels at left lock and push up and down on the noisy corner. Does it still make the noise? (stationary)?

I could hear the noise .... my first guess would have been tire/fender or tire/fender-liner contact ... however if you have ruled that out then ....

does the frequency change with a change in vehicle speed?

does the frequency change with a change in rate of steering input?

does the frequency/sound change if you drag the brakes while making this maneuver?

I have had a bolt come loose (mounting the swaybushing to the frame) and it was one tap per transition ... Your video did not seem to be of a car that was taxing the sway control ... but it could be there.

I have heard similar sounds from cars that had less than completely seated springs .... but that would be odd in this case

I would take it to a tire/front-end shop you trust. They should be able to tell you in a quick test-drive.

Try something simple, see if the lug nuts/bolts need tightened.

I don't recall what the links on the sway bar look like, but I have heard that on other cars with bad links. Sounds like a sway bar link or dry ball joint, tie rod end...

I am almost positive it isn't a tire rubbing. But if it is, why would only one side do this? Thanks

The simplest thing I can think of other than lugs, is the Steering Damper/Stabilizer. Maybe the nut is loose?

It sounds like something is creaking to me. It almost sounds like my creaking camber links (aftermarket) which makes me think it's a tie rod link or ball joint. Do you feel any looseness in the front end?

The same creaking sound I heard on my sister's car (not a Crossfire). Turned out to be the lug nuts were loose. Cheapest thing to fix, first thing to check.

I agree. I heard the creaking sound. Could be loose lugs or a creaky shock. The shocks on my Expedition are creaky over humps when it's cold...but not on turns like that.

I had a creaking similar to that but it seemed to come from under the console. I imagined something serious was wrong, and I got that, you know, "wtf" feeling? After careful scrutiny I discovered my seatbelt latch was rubbing against my leather seat... So all I'm sayin is 1. it might not be something serious, and 2. whatever it is chances are someone on this forum has experienced it and knows the fix..
good luck
