Problem with LED sidemarkers
Problem with LED sidemarkers
One of my front side markers lamps went out, so I decided I wanted to upgrade to LED. So, I purchased some LED units that were supposed to work with Mercedes (Canbus error free, blah blah blah) and not trip the "lamp out" indicator. Well, I put them in and they work fine, but I am still getting the lamp out indicator. These are the ones I bought:
eBay - New & used electronics, cars, apparel, collectibles, sporting goods & more at low prices
Any ideas to make the "lamp out" indicator go off? I dont want to put those gigantic resistors they sell at the auto parts store on there. Might as well just go back to incandescent if that is the case. But, if I can use a smaller wattage resistor and do the trick, I might consider it. Anyone know what might work?

Re: Problem with LED sidemarkers
Yeah, it says buy LED's like I did with the Canbus no error etc. etc., or use load resistors, or remove the
"light out" bulb from the instrument cluster.
Buying what I thought would be the correct LED does not do the trick. I am wondering if I can just add a smaller resistor in parallel since these already have resistors. It just may not be quite enough current draw still. Giant 25Ohm 25 watt resistors really defeats part of the purpose of going to LED's in the first place.....The resistor just sits there sucking power just to keep the lamp out indicator from lighting. Also, if your LED really goes out, the resistor will keep sucking power and you will get no indication that the LED went out....so you might as well just remove the bulb from the dash, or just stick to incandescent I guess....
