Coil Spring Spec.
Coil Spring Spec.
Can anyone tell me the spec. of the Stock Coil Springs on the SRT6.
The front spring has snapped on my car so it failed the MOT (I am in the UK).
I have tried to get a new spring but failed so far, Chrysler UK are trying to find out when they can get some for me.
If I can get the dimensions of the springs and the compression lbs, I have found a company that can make some for me, until then my car is off the road...

Re: Coil Spring Spec.
From the SRT page-----Engineers achieved this objective by increasing the Coupe’s spring rates to 451 pounds per inch in front and 480 pounds per inch in the rear. Roadster spring rates are 431 pounds per inch in front and 491 pounds per inch in the rear -- over 100 pounds per inch stiffer than the base Crossfire coupe and roadster. Many on here have cut the springs to lower the car---You may want to buy an used set and do this---Just a thought---Jimmy

If I can get the physical dimensions of the spring now (Height, outside diameter and gauge) I can get a new pair made, as I haven't been able to get any new or used ones in the UK.

Re: Coil Spring Spec.
I have found a German company, that also supply in the UK, they can cross check manufacturers and supplied me with a spring the next day for a fraction of the cost with Chrysler. if anyone needs a spring Email them at this address uksales@suplex.com.

I got the front spring part number from the crossfire parts list (OE 05102297AA) and Googled it, a lot of vendors showed up so I've ordered a pair for £68.50 (for the pair). Interestingly the part number refers to the springs for the SLK320 on which the crossfire is based.
I'll let you know how it goes when they arrive in the next few days.

"The Coupe’s spring rates are 451 lb./in. in the front and 480 lb./in. in the rear, while the Roadster’s are 434 lb./in. in the front and 491 lb./in. in the rear, compared to 303 lb./in. front and 337 lb./in. rear on the original Crossfire Coupe and Roadster models."
I thought the slk was higher spring rate since they where heavier.
