Default minus 1 srt6

Totaled my srt6 Xmas Eve. My took off like nothing I have ever felt from about.40 mph it was like the harder I stayed on the brake the faster the car went I tried missing another car but still had a head on collision. I got bruises but my main injury is my right they say I sprained my foot from the impact I will be on crutches for a while. I think the car is going to a yard in VA. The more I.find out the more I will post. And no drugs nor alcohol wasn't involved just plain bad luck or a warning to changey life.I can send pic to someone good at posting just give me your email address.sorry guys about the 6

Other than the crutches I am glad you are ok. Its sad to hear about more and more crossfires being inoperable. Main thing is that your alive though. Sorry to hear about your misfortune and I hope you have a quick recovery.

Sorry for your loss, get well soon. Please provide your last 5 numbers of the VIN#, color and whether it was a coupe or roadster for our list in the "sticky" section....

blackpepper, sorry for your loss. That said, am I the only one who still doesn't understand exactly how the crash occurred? From reading the OP's post it sounds like the car wouldn't stop in spite of slamming on the brake? That was my first thought. Or were you sliding on ice on the road or something?

Either way, please let us know.

Blackpepper, glad you are OK (other than the sprain) and sorry to hear of
the loss of your 6. Hope you recover quickly (health and transport wise).

Question I would have, were there any mods to the accelerator pedal? Is there one of the Sprint Boosters installed? Any recent changes/tunes, any
changes to the throttle body.

Good luck,

Coyote

Sounds like the Toyota issue, but hard to believe this could happen. OUr cars have a safety override and when you press the brake the throttle will close even if you have the throttle pushed to the floor.

I replaced my battery two days prior, no pedal mods I wear a size 13 so its hard to say but I know for sure my brake pedal did a number on my arch there's a dark imprint across my feet.I plan on getting another srt6 but not until I learn what I have to take as a learning lesson from this accident.Based on my minor injuries its one of the best cars out as far as safety.I am 6'6" and 230lbs.I can't blame the car it's something I can't figure out right now.

You might want to photograph the bruise in the arch. If The car took off on iits own and cuased a head on, you are a millionaire. Glad you came out of OK.

Sounds like a scary experience.
Glad your injury wasn't worse but sorry for your loss.
I once hit the brakes hard on my Ford Explorer but my size 12 foot also pressed the gas pedal and the gas pedal won.....
I crashed into a mini van at a stop light and damn near totaled it.
Thankfully no injuries to anyone in this one.
Damn near totaled a Toyota Sienna though/
My truck had much less damage and was fixed in a few days.

I didn't know our Crossfires had this safety feature.
I'm gonna have to verify this next time I'm out driving it...of course when nobody else is around on the road

I'm thinking if the front wheels are "rolling" this feature might actually work.

Very strange indeed. Glad your injuries are limited to your arch...a true testament to how tough these cars are. Keep us updated on what you found out about the cause. That's the first case of sudden acceleration I've heard of on these cars.

You can power brake at a stop, but you cannot do this if you are moving. While moving about 20mph start riding the brake and give it gas to try to maintain your speed while increasing brake pressure. You will find out you can't and will come to a stop and the gas pedal does nothing until you release the brake. It doesn't take much braking for the to kill the throttle. I just assumed all Crossfires have this, but I didn't discover this until after the V8 and V8 ECU was installed.

Wow! Having also had a head-on in my XF, I can celebrate life with you. It IS a mystery as to how your crash occurred. Hope you can find the answer.
The insurance company may have some ideas as I am sure that this has happened somewhere else at some other time.
Again, glad you're OK and can look forward to 2012 and a new SRT6!
