Default Got My Car - Has An Issue

I'm exhausted... just got home (9:30 pm EST) after riding a Greyhound from 7:40 pm to 8:30 am this morning and having gotten up at 2:00 am yesterday. Ugh.... it's amazing what coffee and sheer will can do, but pushing 50 it just isn't happening like it did at 25. LOL.

Okay, it's a diamond in the rough. Will post some pics. Black on black nav car with a hair over 50k miles on it. Typical broken ashtray and clouded headlamps, but I got it for $14.6k, so I don't think I did too too bad considering that these aren't plentiful.

Here's what's up though that has me concerned. Sometimes when I step into it, it falls flat and will downshift, but it feels like there's no boost. Other times (mostly) I"m blasted back into the seat the way things should be. Also, it seems to cut in and out very briefly at highway speeds. Ignition? Boost controller (do these cars have one?)

I'm perplexed, but not panicked because I have a bumper-to-bumper warranty for 3,000 miles/90 days and a 12 month/12,000 mile powertrain warranty. I was hoping someone here has seen this before.

It's going to go over the Chuck Eddy Chrysler-Dodge this coming week for them to look over once I contact the warranty providers. I don't see how they can tell me I can't take the car to the people who actually know how to fix them. In the meantime, I'd appreciate any feedback, but please don't make fun of my car or put me down saying I paid too much because this was what I could afford for now.

It's probably the intercooler pump. Use the SEARCH feature on the bar at top of page to find the most common problems. Hope this will help.

Really? So the intercooler pump can cause the car to have strong boost one minute and basically none in the next? I would have never thought that. I was aware that there are issues with the I/C pump, but I didn't anticipate it would result in this.

Thanks guys! Just went to Eurocharged's website and ordered the Johnson pump. I'm also going to order the coolant separator kit from Needswings. I am loving this car already. It's a blast. I can't wait to get it all sorted out. Thanks for being so helpful!

Aside from the great people on this forum I've had the chance to meet with, the help and knowledge are the best part of this site! Enjoy your ride!

Congrats on the new ride!! That will make 2 srt6s in Boardman now (Saw one at the mall a few months ago)! If you need someone to watch it if your going to be out ot town, I would be happy to help!!! I'm still shopping for one, and need to sell my Jeep first.

Once you get it all fixed and running right I would LOVE to get a ride in it, I'm in love with the srt6's and I've never even sat in one!

I've known the problem to be intermittent on both my dad's and our srt. I suspect the water temp spikes and it cuts the supercharger, then it might cool down enough to re-set to normal operation. Or possibly the pump itself works intermittently due to some internal problem. Whatever the cause, the symptoms worsen until you have boost only when the engine is cold.

Both of the rockets under my care are getting new pumps from needswings this weekend. They seem to last about 36,000 miles, whether Johnson or Bosch.
