Default Any idea what is going on...help !

I have an SRT6 that every once in a while when I need to speed up either fails to downshift, or does and when I back off the throttle, the car seems to not be in gear or remains in gear but the throttle can barely keep the car at speed. Once stopped the car can barely move. Resetting the transmission clears away the problem and everything is normal.

Now I have had the IC pump replaced and know what that was like and this is different as it is not dependant on outside temp, length of time running, ect.

I have used some obdii software to read the IAT and they sit around 100 degrees or less, and there are no codes in the computer.

Other than this the car has been a smooth running vehicle for years, but this has been one of those things that no one has been able to figure out.

Anyone faced a similiar issue? Familiar with the drive by wire system used in the car? Dealer service is clueless as all the data says the systems are all good.

My other thought is the transmission fluid is low for some reason.

x2 I had the same problem when the connector plug was leaking.

x3 I had limp mode with a low transmission fluid condition.

It sounds like the problem with the valve plate that I had earlier this year in my 300 with the same basic transmission (NAG1) it was like this at the start and then went into limp mode permanently after a month or so.

My wife had told me she had problems but every time I test drove it the fault never happened until the day I drove it instead of the Crossfire and it went into limp mode at once and would not reset.
They serviced a valve and all was correct again.

Valve plate was replaced along with new connector and fluid and filter, since this has been a long standing issue (not that its a big deal) but I know it is not those items. No codes are being thrown so I think there is something in the pedal or some other sensor tied to it.

Well did some more testing today ...

With the car parked I was able to replicate the issue. So I guess that rules out the tranny since it was in park, I have a feeling the pedal is at issue. When it hits the magic button there is no telling if it will work.

Going to try and play with it some more

Your symptoms sound very much like when my SLK32's gas pedal started to fail (causing its output voltage to be slightly out of range) . However, I did get codes . Other symptoms were oddly higher than normal idle and lack of throttle braking. Seems odd that yours is not throwing any codes. Perhaps the Crossfire and SLK are a little different here? The output voltage can be measured on the PCM (acceptable range is given in the SRT6 manual). New pedal assembly is around $150.
