hiccup | hesitation | slip
Re: hiccup | hesitation | slip
UPDATE:
I drove around with the dealership's grand puba, he felt & heard the issue- said he will do everything he can to fix it.
The car has been in the shop for a while now ... come to find out, there was an 2005 internal Chrysler memo about the throttle body gasket leaking causing momentary hesitation, may or may not throw a check engine light. I got those same symptoms, they claim to have check the gaskets, gaskets are functioning as designed.
Adamant that there is a problem, they drove the car around with a data logger. Low & behold, when the blower kicks in hesitation occurs. They did find out the supercharger will always turn on at a maximum of 2800 RPM, hence the car's hesitation just shy of 3k.
They think the issue may be in the computer software or the supercharger. I've told them they replaced the supercharger and asked to confirm what parts were replaced (whether it was the whole thing or just a portion).
They also are questioning whether or not this is normal for the car as this will determine how far will they go trying to resolve the issue. They claim there is an inherent hesitation as the blower turn on and cpu adjusts air/fuel, loss of power occurs - to what degree is normal they don't know as they've only serviced 3-4 other srt-6s. I assured them this is not normal.
So anyways, its still in the shop, I hope they can find the problem.

Re: hiccup | hesitation | slip
Hey Captain,
I have the same identical symptoms on my SRT. I just took apart the TB gasket, intake and checked for leaks, loose bolts, hoses, etc. The gasket was in perfect condition, so for me this was not the cause. I've had these symptoms since the car was stock and I now have the DCAI, tune and SC pulley. IC Pump was just replaced 2 months ago.
I recently added tighed1's DIY belt wrap mod and will wait for some good weather before taking the car out for a spin. Not sure if this will help as the car was doing this in stock form, but its worth a shot.
Keep us posted on any updates and I will do the same.

Re: hiccup | hesitation | slip
... another conversation with the SM yielded slightly better results; he is going to contact the local benz dealership to see if they can have a look at the car.
I verified that the throttle body gasket was checked for leakage. Additionally, according to the official Chrysler parts catalog/SM, the supercharger is listed as an assembly, so the blower & clutch assemblies were replaced.
He said its safe to rule out the supercharger as the issue. He thinks its got to do with the air/fuel maps & wished he had another srt6 would come in for service so he could compare the two. Wouldn't that be something he could get from Chrysler?
I too tested the gasket with a buncha throttle body cleaner. No increased rpm.
I'll wait to head back from SM, see if the car can go to MB
thanks 24x7, however it looks like its gunna be a while til you get nice weather.

Re: hiccup | hesitation | slip
WOW... he's going to have an MB dealer look at it?! I wish they did that for me when my alarm kept going off for 9 months straight instead of letting my Chrysler dealer (who doesn't have a crossfire tech) try and figure it out.
I replaced my throttle body gasket (and every other gasket in that area) and still the same thing...
Thanks for keeping us up to date!
