Mr.M it's all good.....no offense taken, and to answer your question yes it's purely for aesthetic value.
If I had a "pressure cooker" SRT6, then I'd probably open it up for ventilation.
But for a CAI, you can't beat what NeedsWings offers.
By the way, I've got Miata parked in my garage too.

 

Portholes do make them go faster turned this one into a z28 , thats just cool...
