I thought yours was OK now, after you shimmed it out. You've been running it for awhile now, yes? Or did you put the stock pulley back on?

I spoke to a Adam at EC today. He said that he did not know of all the changes that had been made on new batch of SC pulleys but that he did know that the spring design had been altered although he did not know in what manner. I told him that I still had my original pulley new in the box ands he did offer to swap it out for one in the new batch. I think I am going to take EC up on that offer as I am a little Leary on the original design after reading this thread. Great customer service once again from EC.

I just emailed Jerry asking for a switch aswell. I only have the EC SC pulley #1 batch and have my car as a DD. Asked them to send it to me in Sweden so I could switch mine out and send the first one back. Hence no idle time for my vehicle. Will see how this goes.

Also, I wonder if the one who bought the first ones will go before the cue or will the "new cash clients" go first?

Mine has never been right since day one.Twice I have added more shims (at eurocharged suggestion). It holds the correct gap for maybe a couple weeks then no gap at all. I think there is something like a1/8" of shims on it now. I'm afraid of the long term issues with it not disengaging when it should.I can see why they changed the design so quickly.

No replies from EC sofar. I guess buying the first batch from any product/company is a big no no. Shame, as I thought it was the other way around, that we were the lucky ones.. To be continued i guess..

Just so you know, this happened with the oringinal Code 3 pulley as well, until they finally ironed it out. And, even then, there were problems down the road. Testing, testing, testing.....

I have the last version of the Code3 pulley ..... in the closet. I used it for 2 years but it was defective from the start. I should have sent it back. The clearances were uneven, to put it kindly. The quality control, inexistent. But, it worked and I kept it on until the rattling got so bad I worried about it flying apart. The first and last Code3's were a crap shoot IMO and I hope the Eurocharged pulley's turn out to be better over the long run. What finished mine off were the spring straps and rivets that kept getting looser and looser. The clearances never caused an operational issue that I could identify.

Ok I see. IMO upgrades are of course needed along the road but obvious parts should have been tested for quality, wear and tear etc.
So how many upgrades on the ec sc have been done? What version is available?

Only from what I have read here, it looks like they are on version 2. That backing plate is usually the problem, and hopefully the rivets will hold. I constantly keep an eye on both cars.

Well, they are kind of like bolts with no heads on them. Compressed to hold the spring part of the pulley on. I am on duty, so I can't load photos...maybe someone else can. Both my pullies aren't perfect...so they will rub but, aren't engaged. Just the way it is...

Okay, I know what they are now
My biggest concern is the sound mine is making when cold...

FUBU, That noise is metal rubbing metal (pulley drive plate against S/C clutch). You've had those shims since early March, did you ever install? Better yet, you should have your mechanic take that new pulley off and put your stock pulley back on.

All I want is a working version II pulley sent to me for my faulty one that I returned to them. Whether they comment or not is inconsequential; at least to me. The OEM pulley is German precision, and hard to duplicate apparently.

I'm holding on to the Code 3 for the time being.
