ESP and ABS light
ESP and ABS light
I found a SRT6 for sale and test drove it. It drove as I expected and everything seemed in order. The price is also right, so I'm strongly considering it even though it has a minor, I think, problem.
The ABS and ESP lights are on. I searched the forum and found little information about this in the SRT6 section, but threads in the coupe section tell me it's potentially a range of issues, and all of them seem easy to fix.
It could be a bad battery. The maintenance records show that the original battery was replaced under warranty with another factory battery. The car has about 25,000 miles on it since this change.
It could also be a wheel speed sensor, but it's unclear if I can determine this myself without taking the car to a dealer. Is there a way to pull any trouble codes from the computer? On other Chryslers, you can hold the trip button down while starting the car and it will show codes. On other Chyslers you can hold the trip button down while turning the key 3 times from off to on (but not starting the car) and that will also show codes. I couldn't find anything on the forums to show this was possible on a Crossfire though.
It can also need a yaw control (?) re-set and that procedure is found in the owner's manual.
Am I missing anything? Am I crazy for considering the car at a good price with this potential issue? For what it's worth, I do almost all work on my cars. I'm confident I could replace any part that might be bad. But I read on the forum that it's not always possible to determine what's wrong without some "special" equipment (but then there's never a description of what that equipment is).
Any help is appreciated.
