I would buy the number I recommended. they are only $104 shipped

These ones on EBay may not be pinned the same at the connector (they don't use the same wire color scheme, I notice).

Paddles installed. Wasn't too hard but took time. I would have liked them a little farther outboard but the spokes on my SLK wheel weren't wide enough for the paddles. I can grab them fine but the tops of my fingers are just barely brushing the turn signal lever. You guys with Crossfires wheels shouldn't have a problem. I would reccomend placing them out further as you gain clearance with the turn signal lever as you move them out.

Hi Magredvet,

For those 15 members who stepped up and said they would take one before I had even shown the completed kit (and before instructions existed) I said I would ship for $145 plus paypal fee , plus shipping (essentially at my cost ) . For any Kits after, the price will be (until further notice) $195 plus shipping (paypal fee is rolled into the new price).

I realize that from a percentage standpoint it seems like a big jump, but I just priced it too low at the beginning. Hope you understand. You and anyone else who chooses to buy now will have the advantage of seeing more examples of it installed first and hearing all of the pointers of the mod-pioneers that went before you. Also, shortly (next few days?) the instructions will be done so you can get a better Idea of if and when you might want to add this to your car.

I actually want a smaller diameter steering wheel. Is there currently a Mercedes-Benz all in one unit that I can purchase with a smaller circumference wheels with already built in paddle shifts and airbag/horn that will work with your kit?

I know that other enthusiasts have made wheel swaps on SLK's and Crossfires using other mercedes wheels. The question is, is there a wheel that is already set up for paddles that does NOT have other wheel mounted switches? (your car AND this kit has no use for any other wheel mounted switches aside from horn and paddles shifters). And, if that wheel exists, is it smaller? (seems unlikely) .

I have seen threads where enthusiasts talk about having there wheel customized (new wrap, new grip shape, squared off at bottom, etc) perhaps one of these wheel customizers could create something that would work for you and others wanting to add the paddles

A good place to look may be a mercedes site like Benzworld .... search for custom wheel or wheel swaps, etc.

I hope someone who actually has some specific, useful ideas on where you should look for this (unlike me : ), can better answer your question. I'm sure many of us would like to know what other wheel choices might be out there.

Chris

Ok thanks Chris, I understand. PM me with the details of paypal address, when you have some more kits ready , and I'll get you paid. To me it is still a small price to pay for the ability to be able to paddle shift. If you do intend making more kits, then I can go ahead and buy the paddles, before they become back ordered .....

Rudy and Chris have worked out the shipping logistics and I will be dropping off my car at the Speedriven shop on Wednesday morning. I should be paddle shifting away with a big grin on my face some time that afternoon. Check with Rudy if you are near Palatine, IL and would like him to do this installation for you.

Thanks Chris, Rudy and Speedriven.

You are right, after further research, a nice AMG Benz steering wheel (with paddle shifter) is in the $1500-$2500 range!! (??)

PS Check this out - $99 Shipped!

Now just awaiting on pictorial instructions (video perhaps?) before I place my order! Although I consider my self tech-savvy - I need to ensure i can take this project on!

MMZ Timelord and I put the paddle shifter set up in his SRT6 this afternoon. It came out very nice and I got a lot of good pictures to include in the instructions. Turns out the Crossfire wheel is the easiest wheel yet that I have put paddles into. They really fit nicely. Here are a couple of pics
