after driving a bit, it already feels pretty natural.
i wouldnt defer purchase unless you have fat fangers,
in witch case i would look at shifting the template

Chris: i forgot to mention when we spoke that i had a problem w my dexterity "threading the needle" w the two wire connection on the pcb.
i soldered them on the back side of the pcb, and it works well for me.

May I ask what the price for the AMG paddles were? any pics installed?

there are pictures on this thread. Stop over thinking this and pry your wallet open. This is one of the best bang for your dollar/Euro mods you can do! The AMG paddles run about $100. this has also been mentioned many times. I got mine form OE parts which is listed on this thread. I have bought other parts from these guys and they have the best prices on OEM parts and are great to deal with!

FUBU, I jumped all over this after I saw them in person. I wasn't even considering this mod... At the Dragon, you didn't even notice them on the car. Chris did an excellent job on the parts, and packaging, but I will be the first to admit, I'm not doing the install. I am letting Rudy do them at Speedriven, only because I need an excuse to go to Chicago and meet everyone at Speedriven. LOL... the instructions are straight forward, with a little soldering. Any car shop over there could do this for you. The paddle install on the wheel looks pretty straight forward as well. The paddles are really nice. They look like they belong there all along. Not a real expensive mod to give your car some class. I am only doing the roadster for now. I don't really see a need on the coupe...she only goes in straight lines...

For those outside the United States that want the AMG paddles, this company ships outside the US:

This is where mine came from.

Worth mentioning, Jim (Jimmy Skullz) does not have a Crossfire wheel in his car (it is a mercedes wheel not even intended for an slk) so his fit is bound to be a little different than in a crossfire or slk (that is using a crossfire or slk wheel).

in so far as the soldering goes, if you follow the instructions, you will have no problems.

I installed my paddle shift kit this weekend and wanted to let everyone know my thoughts on the install and the results. After reading the instructions I felt good about everything except I was a little apprehensive about cutting the wheel and soldering on the board (they turned out not to be that bad at all), I followed the instructions step by step but when I put the car back together the UP paddle did not work so I went back over the process and was stumped.
Now comes the best part, I called Chris on Sunday afternoon, he was at the lake with family and he took time away from them and worked with me on the phone until we found the problem. Chris doesn't only build quality parts he knows what he is doing and is truly a stand up guy, I cant say enough about his help. It turns out I had plugged the paddle shift connectors to the module upside down, a lot of agonizing and bugging Chris for a mistake I should have seen.
I put the car back together and went for a great ride with the paddle's working perfectly, this is by far the best mod I have done... I love it. Thank you Chris!

Thanks for the kind words, Paul.

The phone reception is pretty sketchy up at the lake house, but luckily it didn't stop us from sorting out your minor mistake. To be honest, I had no idea that the headers on the horn/paddle interface harness could even accept those connectors rotated 180 degrees ... gonna have to update the instructions : )
It was good working with you; glad you are enjoying the paddle shifting

I thought I would give everyone an update on the Paddle Shift Mod, I feel like I need to warn anyone thinking about doing this there is potentially a BIG problem.

The funfactor will cause you to test the buttometer which is highly likely to result in an invitation to local magistrate's party for you to explain your need for speed and I feel sure you will be pressed into donating to his cause
Seriously everyone should jump all over this mod, this is how the car should be driven and makes driving just to much fun!
Great mod, again thank you Chris!

Just wanted to add my name to the "FINISHED MY PADDLE SHIFT INSTALL and LOVE IT"
Now it will be torture not being able to drive this beast for at least three more months.
What a great kit with fantastic technical support from Chris.

Hey Cousin Steve,

Glad I was able to help you out! I tried to make the instructions clear enough so that even a Canadian could do it : )

Wish I could do something about that cold weather that is keeping you from driving your Beast until the spring ...

Happy New Year,
Chris

Same here Bob. It allows you to control the weight of the car more effectivly setting up a turn. About the only time I dont use the paddles is when I am stuck in stop and go traffic.

To thoes on the fence, get your paddle shifter kits and join the fun.

I really believe the V8 has helped also to control wirght transfer. I spoke to Tazz at the Dragon and we both feel that our cars handle better with the V8. This is becuase it is so much easier to transfer weight.

So any kits able to be purchased? Birthday is coming up in Feb so was thinking of getting one included paddles from US. Please let me know your thoughts if you will be able to get it down to my apt in FL around feb.

"Happy ending" we say in Sweden but it has another meaning in other languages. Especially in English and if you are at a massage parlor ANyways have a great New years!

Don't forget... this kit is WITHOUT paddles. You MUST purchase your own.
