If you ever need someone to knock the dust off one of those toys, you let me know, I am in Indiana as well
I'll get that job done soon, but thanks for the offer .
How many people do you know that would be willing to sit in the passangers seat taking a video at 190 to 200 MPH ? I do have a picture on here somewhere I took with my phone at around 165 MPH. They took away my place to open her up, it was turned into a "Wet-Lands" fowl reserve. I've even talked to a x State Policeman that lives by me about a leagle place to open a car up, like where they do their driving school. They do it at the Brick Yard.

Only real safe place to open these things up is at a track or closed or nearly so, private airport.
There is one not too far from me here and I see police cars parked there, so they must do some of their training there even though the airport is still active.
Check around with local law enforcement, you may be surprised to find they can be very helpful.

Re: 145 -150 mph
geez...we aren't in high school anymore....videos, gps...lol...gps is off as much as a speedo is...I am working on a place, but liability insurance, and a waiver, and other legal issues have to be worked out. I had a passenger when I did 160, and it has seen the 150 mark many times since...hell, even Johnny saw 135 on less than straight bit of road. And, Steve...ISP does NOT use the Brickyard...Plainfield IN is where our police academy is, and there is a track there, but no long straightaways for high speed runs...As for "citing" from youtube videos, that is a myth as well...I have over 30 yrs in law enforcement and only videos I have ever seen lead to prosecution have been idiots that vandalize something and video it...with their faces plastered on the video...lol...as stated above, 6100-6200 rpms, with give you 186...but wind, road surface, and other factors will and do say WILL slow the progress to 186...HP...will help, as the MORE HP you have the sooner you will get there....

Re: 145 -150 mph
send me that video of the arrest....sitting here right now with a prosecutor....she is laughing.....but, we are in Indiana......lol.....proof my friend, we have to prove it beyond a reasonal doubt...now, who has a video of the speedo, the road, and the drivers face, along with the posted speed limit? Now, I will admit, you can be cited for "unreasonable" speed, but again the above factors will be needed, or it's just hearsay....vandals on the other hand are videoing their buddies destroying property, or videoing each other getting high, or fighting, or....you get the picture(video in this case)....but it would be hard pressed to prove a speeding citation without a face...it's hard enough to prove the video wasn't tampered with...

Re: 145 -150 mph
there you go.....I'm just telling it like it is....believe what you want....there are other active duty officers on here, they can give their opinion as well...I can say I have used my in-car camera to prosecute drivers, as it displays speed and time...AND their plate, and once stopped and out of the car....in person...beyond a reasonable doubt...I don't like the red light cameras at all...don't need them taking our jobs...

Re: 145 -150 mph
again, why I don't like redlight cameras....in this case, the light in the photo clearly shows red with the offending car in the intersection, with the license plate number...clearly without a doubt showing the registerd plate number...you be the judge...but, still don't like them.....as the registered owner, you are responsible for the car....the gray area is, you aren't always the driver, but still responsible...again, why I don't like it....If an officer stops you for this infraction, there isn't a doubt as to the DRIVER...good argument either way
Re: 145 -150 mph
I don't like technology taking over the job of reporting traffic violations. There is nothing stopping them from forcing us to carry gps transponders in our vehicles that would report all speed violations anywhere and every time the car is moving. Or parked too long on the street downtown. Your ticket could be issued instantly by email and the fine drafted from your bank account.
We are already whipped and shackled in so many ways that I worry there would be no meaningful resistance.
135 mph and rock steady.

I have said it many times on here, we are human, we have toys too....we, well, most love cars, motorcylces, and love to see them up close. Some get annoyed for being stopped to look at their cars...I never get annoyed to show off a car....but, we have a job to do, which I don't do it anymore, but it's a job, nothing more...each side knows what they are doing when they decide to speed,....the airport thing I am trying hard to work on, but it doesn't look good...but, still trying...as there needs to be an event for guys to be able to go play with their cars other than, autocross/solo/drag racing...we have an old airbase, which is now home of the state air national guard...and I am trying to make contact with the people at the top to see if we can do some runs up there...the managers of the airport aren't against it, but it will take state approval, and maybe the feds as well...we would need someone to do the timing...we could use radar/lidar, but a time system would be more accurate...we will continue to work on this project, as I love to do things for fund raising for police depts...budgets are cut right now...this could be a way to raise funds and give a safe place to play...

Fantastic that you are doing that Doc. I hope you succeed in your efforts. If Texas can have their Mile, why not Indiana. Does anyone know what kind of revenue is created at the Texas Mile? If Doc had this info. it may help in his negotiations. As we all know, money talks.
