Sounds like they adjusted for the tire height and came up with the 186 speed.
Speedo may have said 182mph and the % of adjustment took it to the 186 figure. My guess.

And NO I'm not gonna do the math to see what the speedo was showing!

You hit it right on the head.
The reason I know this is for the longest time and maybe to date he had the fastest speed and I was listed as second.
I did compensate for the tall tires and said he did the math. Thats what I wasn't too much in agreeance with.
What happened to Steve H.? Is he no longer an SRT owner?
With the "Jerrytune" I just got, having the power the dump this thing well past 180 isn't even the slightest bit a doubt.

I haven't read the whole thread, but all the math I see with stock tire height seems to be in the 186 range as it is gear bound at that point...of course, weather, wind, road surface all can affect the speed...160 is my tops so far...not enough room to go further, but always looking for a place to try safely...

I've managed 164 (my guess from it being over 160 in the middle) but the climb was a bit too slow for my pucker factor to let me push it any faster. I think if we had a way to overcome our annoyingly tall 4th and 5th gear ratios hitting 200 would be possible even while stock.

EDIT: I'm not sure when we max out 4th or 5th, I know 3rd is around 105 (107 is my guess). I was too busy screaming like a girl to pay attention if I even shifted into 5th.

I think that you have things a little wrong, from 164 to 200mph is a giant step for man kind and gearing is not what will stop you.

Hence the reason I wont video tape my runs. Did you know they have been ticketing people that are posting such events on YouTube.

They CAN, but from everything I have read, they will not unless you are incredibly stupid/dangerous or they know you are in a public road (aka traffic).

Edit: and Hellums is from good old Indiana

I did my speed run in Mexico, not sure about anyone else. If I make a video it will take place in Mexico too. Also all of my "spirited driving" involving another car has taken place in Mexico.

I can only show video still from California Speedway on the front straight several years ago. And I'd have to zoom in on the Speedometer to get a real reading. My eyes were on the track and surrounding vehicles, not the Speedometer!

I think it's about 130mph. I have done a bit over 135mph, but I can't recall where or when...

If you check Steves "gallery" there are some photos of his property.
I think he has a very loooong driveway.....yeah, that's where he did it, on his diveway.
I know I can easily break the posted speed limit in front of my house on my driveway. Now stopping is another matter entirely.

Most of the people that know me, think I have spent a lot of money on just about anything you can think of but I've yet to manage the funding to build an asphalt strip long enough to do 200mph on and slow down to a stop.
Most of the time they know it's public road...
In a world of altered videos and computer graphics I can't beleive they go after anyone, but I am not going to chance it. At least until I get a new camera.
Keep your eyes open.

Hey, Steve is an honest guy! When I done the 186 MPH, my speedometer said a hair past 180 MPH. I used a web site - Custom rims, wheel tire packages for your ride - RIMSnTIRES.com to compensate for running 285/35/19's on the back. If you enter the sizes of the tires to compare the 255/35/19 against a 285/35/19 it say's at 60 MPH you will actually be doing 62 MPH. That is where I came up with the 186 MPH.

Do you still have your SRT? You need to come on here more often...

FWIW, I believe you, you've never lied to us before. Anything over 130 on the gauges is a margin of error to some degree, but if the needle was at 180 then that's absolutely cooking. Pointless for folks to split hairs over 2-3 mph...

Yes I still have it with under 5K on it, I bought a twin to it from Jeff Cobb last fall & had planned on driving it for a daily driver this summer. But I ended up selling it a few months ago, kind of wish I hadn't. I havn't even got my SRT out yet this year nor my Harley, I just have too much on my plate and just busy as hell all the time.

Although I am not a member of this league ( with my lowly N/A roadster ), I would say that any claims should be accompanied by a video of a GPS showing the data/time along with the MPH and including a portion of the Crossfire dash ( to eliminate all those Bugatti and Ferrari posers ).

Just my 2cents ........
