Re: Got my tune today
Clint built a new file and retuned my car this afternoon. Unfortunately it rained all day today so I had to tiptoe through the monsoon. If the weather cooperates I'll have a review tomorrow. Now I just have to get that wide band installed.
I have to give a big thanks to GT-ER. (Daniel, you don't know him) I met him for the first time today because he lent me his cable, laptop, extension cords etc. He has a Eurocharged pullied and tuned E55 .... and wants to race. He had trouble with his pulley eating the key off the snout of the crankshaft and he did the Woody fix with a Woodruff key. Yea Woody.

Re: Got my tune today
I tested my retune today and it's much better. I sent the dyno graphs to Clint because I suspect I'll need one more adjustment. The power and torque curves look real nice. I have Eurocharged tuning my car for the my racing events which means for a real hot motor which perhaps is a bit unusual. Today (a cool day for P.R.) as the car got hotter it got stronger. The car put down more power today with the cutouts closed than my best pre tune numbers with them open. My prior experience is that I'll see an additional 10 hp when I have them open. I'm sure when the AFR's are perfect the car will be even stronger. Or maybe they are perfect for when the car is super hot, I don't know, that's for Jerry and Clint to determine. The more I deal with Eurocharged the more impressed I become.

Yes I saw the pics. The part I'm fretting about is cutting the wires to the ECU and BCM to make connections and soldering them back together. (electrically challenged/inexperienced) I will eventually get some upgraded manifolds with a bung for measuring boost so it makes sense for me to make all the connections now.The O2 sensor and the rest is easy to understand. I'm not from the lego generation, but we did have erector sets and lincoln logs.

Re: Got my tune today
Clint just answered my email and he says it's perfect. As the car gets hotter the AFR will get richer. It read from 13 to 12.7 on the dyno at the tailpipe. I need to get that wide band in for my piece of mind. It's time to pull out the instructions, parts and practice with my soldering iron.

Re: Got my tune today
I got my Zietronix wide band in yesterday and spent today day driving around and waiting for my engine to blow up. I put a big AFR numerical screen on the dashdaq and I never saw lower than 13.3 at WOT. Part throttle was 14.7. Then I switched screens to data log several signals. I logged IAT's, ECT's, spark advance, throttle position, vehicle speed and AFR's. I managed to do a 30 to 70 WOT run after driving briskly for a few minutes. Looking at the logs, the car was running lean until all of a sudden the AFR's plummeted to mid to low 11's when the IAT's surpassed 115º. With IAT's over 115º part throttle was 12.5 more of less. I'm amazed ..... and relieved to see for myself what high IAT's do to the AFR's. I rarely see IAT's under 130º at the track. My next project will be trying to keep them from getting so hot. Maybe someone (hint hint) can make a shroud similar to the stock one to funnel air into the supercooler. I think it would make a huge difference. i run without the belly pan and believe the path of least resistance is out the bottom and not through the cooler. I can't tell you how nervous I was with this tune, but now I'm excited! I can't wait to hit the track. I just have to be careful when the car is cold.

Re: Got my tune today
I emailed Clint and we're going to tune my car on a dyno. I'm still nailing down the details but it looks like Wednesday. I'm getting an education on dyno's and tuning as we go along. That's never a bad thing. As nervous as I've been about the process I'm equally excited about the outcome.

Re: Got my tune today
Today we got the dyno tune done. It took a long time as the communication to my car keep being dropped. Jerry asked what I wanted and I said "safe" because of the way I beat on my car. So he tuned my car for the desired AFR and not for power. The midrange feels stronger and peak torque is up from my prior best. Peak HP is down a little but I'm pleased with the results. Torque is more important for the way I use my car. Eurocharged has spent hours and hours with me and my car until I was content. All I can tell you is if the first tune isn't what you expected, they will do whatever it takes to make you happy. That is priceless IMO. I'm going to send my log files to them after a track event to see if any other changes are recommended or necessary. Thanks for all the hours and positive final results.

Re: Got my tune today
I read through the comments here and i do agree with some of them. I will never go over 150 mph so I don't need that. the throttle tip in is just fine with me. I might use the manual shift if it works good. i have the s/c pulley on for just a few days now. I have been wondering if I should get a tune just for the safety factor so I don't run too lean. I only drive at high altitude always over 5000 feet I wonder if that makes a difference. We tend to run rich up here in the first place.
Re: Got my tune today
Hopefully I'll be getting mine done soon. Got my cable almost a week ago and was hoping to get it done today, just waiting on them. One thing's for sure, just running the new pulley has shown a very noticeable decrease in my gas mileage (and not because I'm keeping my foot in it, I did that before the pulley).
