Agreed about the pulley. If you look at the service manual it emphisizes that the pulley, seal, and sprocket surface must be completely free of oil at assembly. The old seal seemed pretty crusty so I don't think it liked having a new diameter surface to conform to. No biggie, try and try again!

from manual:
Note: The circumference and the sealing lip of the
front crankshaft oil seal, as well as the mating
contact surface MUST be free of oil and grease.

I got the oil leak fixed!

Well, here's a mystery for you all.

What kind of engine damage could this do?

Look real close at pic 2

more to come...

are those little 'beads' of metal on the inside of the intake??? Are/were they LOOSE?! That wouldn't be the best thing to suck through your SC and into your cylinders......

Dang! Lets just say if it got to the supercharger you'd need a new one. If it trashed the supercharger and made it into the cylinders you could be lucky and just need new plugs and ignore the beat up pistons and cylinder heads. Lets just say expensive. Did it stay in the intake?

It just looks like a little dirt to me.. I know it's not good to have dirt in the engine, but it doesn't look like it would cause any kind of engine meltdown. Guys run forward facing 108mm turbos without air filters and they seem to hold up pretty well. If you change your oil you should be fine.

Well, I can't tell what it is but it looks like a wire to me, if it's just some dirt don't worry.

looks like the welding needed to be deburred a little better

and particals probably wouldnt make it past the intercooler but it would surely do a number on the supercharger rotors. dont give up, clean enough to eat off of is what you want.

I was using that intake about a year ago. January, I had the charger out and saw the divet in one of the lobes. It was shaped just like a big piece of welding slag. I cleaned up everything, well you saw this thread. Needless to say I stopped using the intake. Last Sunday I took off the throttle body to see how my catch can is working and there is silver/aluminum dust all over. I took off plenums and it all stayed above (maybe). I think the SC bearings are shot from the shock and are letting the rotors touch. The car still runs fine and I found a supercharger with way less miles than the rest of the car so I'll just swap that and keep going.

And to make matters worse I got waxed by a kid in a stupid Pontiac G8 today. I just sat there spinning tires as he drove away.

In regards to using a WIDEBAND sensor and emulating a narrowband signal is it as simple as hooking up the white wire from the unit to the white wire on the cars 02 sensor? And in my case with the AEM UEGO gauge set to P4 and it will work?

Beats welding another bung.

PM sent.
The simulation worked but I got a CEL whenever the ECU tried to test the air pump. The temperature didn't change on the narrowband during the test. I does work well enough to get an AFR reading temperarily though.

wire in the rpm and tps directly instead of using the obd2 dashdaq data for that. you will get much more accurate data with a much better refresh rate.

Wish I could Rob, Zeitronix is superior to the PLX in this regard.

Is this to say that the PLX refresh rate and dataloging is not adequate enough for tuning purposes

I think we'll be fine Bob. The OBD data is a little slow but should be ok for tuning.(I hope)
edit: The AFR data is updated every .1 second the OBD is like .7.

the comment regarding Airplanes fracturing because the aluminum gets Hard is incorrect while I am not going to explain why aluminum airframes fracture, if you would like to know the correct reason the information is easily obtainable on the web. The FAA forced manufacturers to provide answers after a flight from Hawaii lost its "convertable" top.
What or when is the right time for a airplane's airframe to fracture?
