Default Temp sensor and thermostat location???

I recently got me a 2005 srt6, to make a long story short car has 37000 miles and runs great, the engine light went on and I had it scanned and the code that came up could be the coolant temp sensor or the thermostat.
Can somebody tell me where they are located? Thanks in advance.

Don't forget to lock of the belt tensioner with the pin to keep some slack in the belt or you will have some trouble.

You might want to check and make sure that the radiator fan is working too.... it if stops you will get a low coolant light too.... since you got a CEL it probably isnt the fan, but it wont hurt to be sure it is working properly....

I went to change my temp sensor today and when I took the old unit out the old part practically fell apart in my hands when removing. I got the clip off and rest of the old unit out but can't for the life of me see how to get the clip and wire connector back on without removing the unit above it to gain access. Is there a trick to putting this unit back in?

I don't even know where the temp sensor is.

I found it, page 7-30 of the 2004 Service Manual. Typically, the sketches are not helpful in finding the sensor's location. Well, not all THAT helpful, I suppose if I was looking at the engine I could figure it out with the manual in hand. The manual claims you can replace it without disturbing other items.

Thanks pizzaguy......I got it figured out. I had to use a needle nose pliers to get the clip in the proper position and then a flat screwdriver to press down on it. Took me 4 attempts to get the clip in the correct orientation.

The proper way is to remove the housing that is blocking it at least that was the case for me because if that clip is not secured it will allow the coolant temp sensor to shoot out as it is under pressure and it will leak your coolant out, ask me how I know.

So I hope yours is secured properly.
