After meeting him I left with the same opinion. The car feels quick, but no quicker then my coupe. I will let you all know what the answers were and the 1/4 time I get once the problems have been corrected. Thanks

dont know if you tracked down the water problem yet but I had the exact problem in a dodge Rader( mitisbushi once. wouldfill the resivor tank up take it for a drive then checke the water when I got home and voila it was 1/2 gone. never a puddle in the driveway or any wetness in the engine bay. It turned out that I had a small pinch in the head gasket and when the vehicle got up to pressue the hot water would shout out as steam and evaporate instantanously. took about 3 months to track that gremlin down. vehilce had only 18k miles on it and it was a factory defect when the head was bolted on and the gasket shifted. at low presser everything worked just fine. had to find a mechanic that could run 60 miles an hour beside the car to spot the problem... hah hah.

Havn't been able to drive or look at the car this week. Too much work and rain. I have considered a head gasket leak and hope that this is not the case. I'm only loosing a tank full every 6-8 hours, so it takes quite a lot of drive time to notice the loss. I know that this will add difficulty into finding the problem. Searching now to find out how much coolant total the two systems combined will hold when filled. Thanks

Have you tried to pressure test it? also there is a coolant dye you can add to your coolant and let it run for awhile and with a black light you should be able to find or see the leak from the dye, even if you dont see coolant leaking.

Well it took 9 months but the dealer is replacing the intercooler under the service contract! They found water and coolant stains in the intercooler when it was removed for inspection.

It appears that the best identifiers for an intercooler leak are O2 sensor failure and minor loss of coolent with no external leak. As stated by other members: The standard dealer pressure checks, dye checks and exhaust gas coolant mix test do not prove anything when it comes to an intercooler leak.

Dealership says the replacement intercooler is on back-order. Appearently there is somewhat of a demmand on intercoolers for this engine. The estimate is 1 week to get the car back.

Well 1 week has turned into 3. The dealer now states that the intercooler is approved by Chrysler but is on backorder with no estimate of receipt. Service manager states the part could arrive in a week or months, just can't tell. Between trouble shooting and repair the dealer has had this car for more then 4 months in 2011 and this is after I told them what the trouble was in the beginning.

I've always questioned "Backorder". If it's sitting on a shelf somewhere, then someone is not doing their job in tracking it down and getting it to you. If it needs to actually be made/manufactured; then I can understand backorder. Can our IC's be repaired properly? Seems like I've read a thread about that. We know radiators can be brazed. I would be beyond diplomacy phase with the dealer. Hope it works out soon for you.

Still under gold service contract so not interested in repaired unit. According to dealer the IC has a high failure rate and has resulted in low supply. Thanks for the advice.

My stealership actually might have one on hand in their parts department. I recently brought my car in for an intercooler pump change (all covered under warranty) and the tech told me that it was both the intercooler and the intercooler pump and it would take a couple of days to get the parts, I was going to tell him that all my symptoms were indicative of just a intercooler pump but I held my tongue (My powertrain is completely covered under warranty and who doesn't like free NEW parts?). In the end though the tech order everything and as far as I know I was told a week later that all my special ordered parts had come in. Brought the car back to get the parts installed and the tech tells me that instead of fixing both the intercooler pump and intercooler he was able to fix the problem by only swapping out just the pump (Should have told him that at the beginning, but what ever). So to make a long story short I believe that there is a intercooler sitting on the shelf of:

Town & Country Jeep Chrysler Dodge | New Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram dealership in Levittown, NY 11756

I don't know where you live or if this helps you, but you could try and contact them to see if they still have the part and then see if they'd ship it to your stealership, Overall I don't know how Chryslers' parts department work but at least I was able to locate an intercooler for you.

The car is parked now until I can get the extended warrentee transferred and take it to the dealer. Hopefully, they will cover both issues.
"extended warrantee"

No two words together ever sound sweeter.

No luck at Town & Country Jeep Chrysler Dodge - parts department stated on back order with expected 30 day minimum to deliver. Glad I don't need to purchase parts from NY, the cost stated was $2600, only $1800 installed here in ALabama.

Mercedes has the part but I am stuck with the restrictions of the "extended warrantee". Still waiting, at least i'm not paying!
